Does anybody here have experience in selling a Ferrari on consignment with a dealer? How does it work? Do they work for a percent commission off gross? If so how much? Or do you give them a net price you'll take and then they sit on it until some dummy shows up willing to pay a stupid price that gets them a fat markup?

Usually you give them 6% of the final sale price. You dictate if and when you want to sell and at what price. I'm no expert but that it what I have done in the past.

What I've seen is they get a commission/percentage/flat-amount and yet offer no warranty on it.

I bought my first Ferrari from FofSF, factory dealership, that way as was satisfied. FofSF made it good, they needed to as they represent that brand. Not thinking you'll always get that kind of service elswhere.

I sold my 456 on consignment through an authorized dealer. They took a percentage, and told me what they expected it to sell for and how much I would net. It ended up selling for a bit less than we expected at first, but I think I ended up getting a higher price (even net to me) than I would have gotten selling it on my own-- and I didn't have to deal with the hassles of tire kickers, etc. All in all, I was quite happy with the situation.

That said, I would make sure you have absolute trust in the dealer you're working with-- there are too many unscrupulous dealers out there.
