First let me say I have NO connection to any of these products, but I am going to use them from now on...

I have spent three full days looking for a supplement to the Halon Extinguisher that will be mounted in my engine compartment should (God Forbid) I ever have an engine fire in the Ferrari. This stuff I found called FireAde2000 is supposed to be the next best thing, and some guys in the ASA series have stated that it is indeed - and unlike Dry Chemical extingushers, it leaves no harmful residue and does not harm your engine in any way.

    Here is a link with FAQ's: http://www.firesupplydepot.com/faqs.html

Again, no connection to anything or anyone involved here, just letting my fellow fchat guys this will be in my boot if anyone ever needs it.

    P.S. Not too expensive either!

We stopped carrying extinguishers because of FedEx shipping regulations, but I'd strongly recommend full Halon 1211 instead of Halotron. Halon is usually available from aviation suppliers, and should be in nice cockpit sized canisters with mounting brackets. I **think** the stuff listed in Matt's link is not actually Halon 1211.

Just had one of those installed in my 599 about a month ago. Company called Pem All / Halon 1211 canister and bracket. Had it placed horizontally directly in front of the passenger seat. Just need to make sure the passenger seat is left with enough travel to move the seat forward if needed. Definately the best place to put one. Your passenger isn't kicking it if the canister is in his footwell or restricts his seating if it is sticking out sideways along the passenger side wall. Nor does anyone need to step over it. If its been placed along side the passenger door kick plate. My dealer CAS ordered and installed it for about $300.

Kinda useless unless its mounted in the engine bay and can be triggered without opening the lid.
A hand extinguisher in the cockpit might help with an in dashboard electrical fire but not an engine fire. They're just too fast and take hold before you can get to it if fuel or oil line fed.

This is the one in my engine bay (or the one that will be mounted shortly) - high quality stuff. Arrived last month. Need to install along with Goth's cats and a few other odds and ends...

The one I had installed in the cockpit was purchased because FCA rules require one in the drivers area to qualify running in intermediate class or better at RA during the FCA meet this summer.Canister must carry at least 2lbs.of chemical.
