Below anyone gets their panties wet, I tried the search function, pathetic as it is, and didn't get any hits.

However, I read yesterday a report that Chrysler's bankruptcy filings say that Fiat Group will transfer Fiat Auto to the Chrysler deal. (Cars are only a part of the Fiat Group) The report specifically included Fiat, Alfa, Lancia, and Abarth in the deal. However, I saw no mention of Ferrari or Maserati.

Do any of you know more about this? Franky, it would be crazy for Fiat to give up Ferrari (or even Maserati). But, then again, stripping Maserati from Ferrari was also a bonehead move.

Ferrari was seperate from everything else. Then a group was formed with just Maserati and Ferrari, seperate from everything else. Then there were 3 groups (1) Ferrari (2) Maserati and Alfa (3) everything else. Today Alfa is part of group 3.

I'm not sure if Ferrari and Maserati are back together or seperate from each other.

As far as I am aware, the Fiat/Chrysler deal applies only to Fiat/Lancia/Alfa/Iveco truck. Ferrari and Maserati are not part of the deal.

Seems like they're just including the lower end brands(for now) to formulate their goals of globalization.

    Korr, da man.

But, seriously, there must be someone in the biz (legal or auto) who has read the actual bankruptcy filing. The article I read specifically mentioned Fiat & Alfa. No mention of Maser or Ferrari.

Would the Fiat Group be nuts enough to give away Ferrari or Maserati? Don't answer that.

I was in the opinion, the main reason for this venture was for Chyrsler to get help in the engineering, development and distribution of smaller high fuel efficient vehicles. I think the US govt would not have been to pleased if Ferrari and Maser was part of the deal.

Ferrari has always been kept separate from the rest of FIAT, IMHO because the racing teams costs could never be born in an 'ordinary' business case. I think Fiat should be given some credit that have largely kept to Enzo's creed of the street cars being the finance for the race team.

My understanding is that Fiat isn't transferring anything into this deal but know-how regarding small, fuel-efficient cars.
They are getting a dealer network and factories for zero dollars.

Ferrari and Maserati are in a separate holding company and Iveco is not part of the Crysler deal. Only Fiat Group Automobiles will be transferred with Chrysler and possibly Opel to create a new car company. Fiat Group Automobiles includes Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo.
