Some monthe ago I bounced into an obscure site(not this one)and found this as well.I tried to contact the "seller" and received zilch response. You will notice the photo is of a LHD car?The price being offered...A few red wines since then ...was something like $48K.

I noticed the LHD. He is currently asking $50k.

    Thanks scud.

This is what the owner(?) emailed me.

"The car is in excellent sound condition and has only had myself and one other owner since 1978, 5 owners in all. They had it restored piecemeal during the late 80s and early 90s and it had a detailing and top end rebuild in 1995 .It is a good solid honest car and not one of the shiny re-spray rust buckets that are around.

I have owned it for few years and it has always been maintained.Whatever needed doing I have had done.

Serial number is 02768. Mechanically the car is also in exellent condition.New points and plugs were just installed and the webers were tuned so that the car runs beautifully. The engine has been recently rebuilt top and bottom and we have all parts that were replaced from pistons, wrist pins, valves and bearing down.Additionally, many other parts have been recently replaced like the clutch coolant pipes and more and all removed parts are still with the car ( This is truly a treasure trove of parts giving buyer of this spectacular car a fantastic visual history of the work done !)"

I'd suggest you look up the sellers address as listed on the website, then do a Google Street view to see what is located at that address.
Id be *very* surprised if it's a legitimate business, or the car exists in Australia at all.

First thing I did. Street view gets me as close as Collins St / Swanston Street Walk, Melbourne, VIC, Australia. But I have never been to Australia so I am not sure where or what this is.

    It's not a place where you'd expect to find a car dealer ( perhaps a broker )

Yes it does. You can bet that any Dino that was originally sold in Australia would have been on the register at some time. The chances that one of the 5 past owners had been in the FCA is pretty high. This applies to any of the older cars. ( except of course those that have been recently imported)

Mainstream site. Anyone with 1/4 of a brain is going to try to flog it through carsales / carpoint / the FCA or a Shannons auction.

My guess this is scam site designed to relieve people of their deposits. Probably not even in Australia, but a check of the domain name does not reveal anything except that it's hosted in the USA.

Could be fun "playing" the scammer, if one could be bothered.

    Let me see...

Price advertised is now 48K in AU, yet last year a dealer had it for 130K in the US?

    A big LOL.

    That confirms it's a scam.

Yep, there is heaps of fraud going on with cars -
The internet makes it easy for scammers

I've come across a couple of instances in the past 2 months:

    Here's one:

A car advertised in carsales / carpoint / drive
    Story:

No phone number / only a yahoo email address.
The guy apparently had been transferred overseas for work and the car put in storage. Was now selling the car ( as he was now in the UK ) and was happy to ship the car
from Tasmania to Canberra for inspection at his risk / cost. ( At that point I realised it was BS/Fraud)

Anyway , his suggestion was that someone from Ebay would contact me regarding the arrangements, and that it would be a risk free transaction as "ebaY' was a safe place to do business.

The way it works is that someone claiming to be from Ebay contacts you and asks for a payment or a deposit and BS you about how it's safe and that Ebay has buyer protection in if the deal is not OK, of course, the person contacting you is the scammer, or one of his mates pretending to be from Ebay.

Only catch was the car wasn't listed on Ebay in the first place, and a check of the rego number ( google on the net) revealed it belonged to another car advertised in a different state). Ebay doesn't contact people re "shipping cars" either.

This person was trying to find suckers that don't know much about how Ebay works, and using the tactic of apparenty involving a legitimate 3rd party (Ebay) to make the deal seem OK.

There have been many caught out by that one Mike. I recall hearing on the radio some lady transferring money overseas for a car that would be sent back to Australia.

Im with Mike, looks like a scam. Googling shows little to no information about this Daniel Jillian. There is no Daniel Jillian located in Victoria as a business or person. The whois contact details is a hotmail address. Also that site has very poor English/grammar. I'd keep away
