    Hi friend!

I know of 8 288 GTO's that are once Dutch owned,
but I think we have about 5 left now...

    Ciao!

    Thanks Marcello!

Was this at Zandvoort on June 12th 1985?

It looks like it, as Jacques Swaters had race number "157" on the car for that event and it is clearly on the car in this image, but I can hardly make out the "338.X.3" Belgian plate.

    Any closeups?

There are few F1 drivers that can entertain or scare you as much as a Mexican City Cab driver.

WOW! Thank you very much for sharing that. I have several images of the car at Zandvoort in '85 when 56331 was just a week old from delivery, but none of the front. 338.X.3 is still on the car.

Tell me you have even more :)

Is this always true?? A good friend has a GTO with no known body/paint work and the license plate groove is red

Well put it this way, they all left Maranello with the aforementioned satin black groove...

No, not common, but we have seen it where the rear has received paintwork.

Witness one of the prototypes, the factory's own 288 GTO.

In all the 288 GTO images from the period in my archives, the standard finish is in evidence...

As if to make the point, even in some rare cases where the bumpers have been color-coded, the number plate groove remains satin black...

And that's after three drives in the pouring rain without cleaning the car. Shade can be wonderful thing.

    Joe,

If I remember right, I believe I saw the oil kit update on this car as well.

    Joe,

I haven't forgotten. I just haven't been able to go through the warehouse full of crap to find the wheels. I know I had 3 sets of NOS wheels at one time. One I use as track wheels. The originals, destroyed clear coat and all, are still on the car. So, someone in pile of stuff I should have two sets of NOS wheels. I just need to find them. I did some other interesting parts I forgot I had though.....

Oh, a funny thing. The NOS GTO wheels had more run-out than the original wheels with 50K on them. Go figure.

    Steve
