NS at $6.7. Not a successful car in it's present config, but concensus seems to be to not restore to first body, so what is one left with? Great event car, though.

Well spoken Eccola. Both sides have strong cases, and neither is right. And neither is wrong.

Preserving what? The 350 Can Am was a customer car with lame results. Never ran as SF. If this car sells, it will most certainly be returned to its P4 configuration. With or without sleeves.

If you knew who to ask , has this car not been for sale for the past ten years or so with a price tag north of 10m US ?

Not taking the piss at all. I just appreciate your insight for what it is. Unlike some folk, you call a replica, a replica.

In my opinion, the car is a no-stories 350 Can-Am or a 'stories' (almost on the order of 0846!) 330 P4. While the car's history includes being a P4, how much of the current vehicle was part of the original P4? Recover some P4 bits from it produce to build around, create replacement parts for what you removed and you can have bitsas in each form! This is an interesting debate; good luck to the buyer!

    Jim,

Good luck on the bidding! I'd love to see it, in its present form, on the streets of NY!

    Regards,

    Art S.

And what about this one (Lot #229) ?

Photo above shows it at Imola in 1987. Not changed since.

Photo 2 shows a twin Vignale 212 at the 1953 Geneva Show. Most probably very similar to what 0287EU (the car to be auctioned) used to be originally.

Big difference. Any improvement ? Even Ferrari never made a race-horse out of a donkey.

Who knows exactly how it was ?

I sense a thread of the year for the changes she might/might not be put through if that happens. Interesting stuff

No, Jim, a premium in the bidding (higher end of the estmate range) as opposed to a discount (lower end of range or not even - which your reasoning means). Let's face it, the cachet of 350 CanAm is not as strong as 330P4. Which is one (albeit not the most important) reason no one would be silly enough to convert a P-car variant (especially 856) to a 350 CanAm.

Unless Medlin is in trouble, I doubt the reserve assumes a 350 CanAm rather than P4 + Can Am. But we shall see soon enough.

Before bidding I seriously suggest a Complete inspection and a
Realistic understanding of what it will take to P 4 this car
and what you'll wind up if you do and what Type II Clasiche
Certification means and does not mean.

It won't sell. I would honestly be surprised if the bids go over $2m ... so many more interesting and usable cars out their.

Ridiculously important car-even if mere remnants of former glorious self....

IT IS THE END OF THE GOLDEN AGE of motor racing...next came the 917s......

this car is "in the can"-all in with fees.....14.5 or higher....
for those who can afford these cars, they know what this means in terms of committment and restorarion....this car can, abd will get done all the way.....They are staggeringly important cars.
Do these cars come with "dog tags" from classiche? Is that not a predicate to participation? If so, this seems a done deal....no?

0714TR is anothwer story....more likely they missed the high water mark on this one...bid and "not met reserve" all the way to 12Million US...12 was turnrd down last year!.....at least so goes the gossip around the camp fire...

SWB California....a BIT HARDER TO SAY..6-8MILLION-"DEPENDING ON THE SMALL STUFF" so to speak....they are now worth more than NART spyders....the "global" market has spoken....
