Ok, here's the deal as am getting the itch again for a lux car. Wife and i like the AM and want a LUXURY car for all day driving COMFORT. Can not seem to find the deals you guys have been talking about so any help is appreciated. Basics:

Still has warranty (i'll shake the car out :) )
Prefer exterior and interior color (or should that be colour :) ) silver or black
    GPS
Cup holders (ok, you can stop laughing now)
    2-seater is fine, no kids
    Hard top
Want lux smooth ride over power

Debating Mercedes SL too, but they are sooo LA... Should i more seriously be considering an SL???

Car will be driven a lot, no garage queen, and probably tracked (HPDE) a few times only so that i can get an understanding of how she behaves in case one needs to avoid the odd moose or deer (or bear!) that pop out from the mountain roads here from time to time. Of course i do not expect a fast AM at under $50k or so and surely it will not handle like the open wheel F2000 pure racer and that is precisely the point. The desire is for a COMFORTABLE drive with luxury smooth ride and some power on hand when needed.

    HELP!

PS: wife is away for a week, so i got seven days and cash in hand... Went to AM's site and what they are showing at US dealers are priced what appears to be too high or not in the right colour.

PS: 'racing'/dark green color exterior is also ok... classic :)

DB7 or V8 Vantage? Go to your local Aston Martin dealer, find the car you want, at give them very low offers, in this market, they might just say yes.

You can get a DB7 V12 Vantage for under $50k. I suspect prices are much softer than "asking" prices to boot. Many of the DB7s on cars.com have been there for 6-12 months or more.

Check with Marcy at Sill-Terhar Aston near Denver, they usually have a decent selection, www.sthastonmartin.com, I bought my DB9 from them, great to do business with

Many thanks. Found a car on cars.com that probably has some warranty or can come with a 1 year warranty, spoke to wife and she feels time is on our side concerning pricing. She is as smart (perhaps more shrewd) than i in deals, and color me no slouch at making a deal... plus she knows my weakness for things on four wheels. Anywho, found a great combo and may contact the folks from the ad today and see what can be done including transport to my location as no locals cars fit my needs.

Needs? Ok, who am i kidding... my desires :)

MANY thanks again guys, ALL help is ALWAYS appreciated.

my business partner has a new green/tan v8 cab. its nice but small interior becomes claustrophobic with top up. i would look at the new jag xkr with the 500 hp motor. its less $ than the vantage but has the room of the db9 with more power to boot. it looks amazing too.

Thanks will look into it. Drive a few different Bentley's for two days (a press event they were holding and am a member of press so was invited). The Bentley was actually my first choice until i drove a few. Interior work is stunning, yet other things nagged at me so had to pass.

I just bought a Silver/red 2008 V8 Vantage Convertible for my wife: 3500 miles and $85 K - well-optioned with Nav, upgraded stereo, bluetooth, iPod adaptor and even had a Larini exhaust, so ironiclally her car is louder than any of mine (well, almost any). The car is underpowered compared to my Z06, but it is perhaps the most elegantly beautiful car of all time.

Deals are out there, as the 09 Vantage is a step up in power and no one is buying toys.

I'm not sure where the center of the Aston Martin universe is, but I'm sure that I live far from it. As a result, not too many Am's clogging the streets. Just saw/noticed my first V8 Vantage in the flesh today.

Quite possibly the most beautiful car I have ever seen in person.

I've been itching for an AM as well.

Not sure what it is but the more I see the car, the more I want it.

Hi Steve! It looks like you are well; I'm glad about that.
I'm surprised no one seems ot be chiming in about the SL.
I've been serching for one for quite a while now, and I've decided with my impending move, I'm going to hold off on a purchase until I sell some of my real estate.
Anyway, I've driven the Sl500, SL600, and SL55. These cars are fantastic- period. The SL500 ran out of steam way too fast for me, but the SL55, and 600 were fabulous. If you're shopping for something used, and it appears that you are, I'd say make sure you drive these first.
You're going to piling miles on the car- and you want an Aston? I love the looks of them, and the interiors are lovely as well, but I'd think long and hard before I chose one for high miles over the BENZ. The torque of these German motors is awesome.
I'm going to get one. Check the used prices too, they are a bargain. Get one under warrentee.
    J

J, GREAT hearing from you! Bailed out of thinking of an AM after the guy who owns HALF of AM defaulted on debt in Dubai. That caries a literal DEATH sentence for those curious. Not sure where that may leave AM so am on a holding pattern. Like you, am in no rush to find a vehicle and the market only gets better and better the longer i wait anyway. Thanks for the advice on the SL55 and 600. Fully agree i;d need to drive it first to be sure. The 308 was fun, yet the F2000 really put my mindset into a MUCH more elevated 'standard' of capabilities. And yes, like the 308 i WILL pile on the miles without a care so she had better work. The 308 NEVER let me down EVER, a true testament to the previous owner and various small things i did to ensure her reliability during use (and track 'abuse'). Thanks again and keep the shiny side up :)

i believe you, yet it truly did scare me off. As time is on my side things can wait as pricing will get better and have a feeling more cars will be there to choose from. Patience is a virtue.
