From another large car (Porsche) site that I just saw. This Ferrari Club bigwig and self-proclaimed expert lays down the law. Is it true?!?

"Since owning a Testarossa for 8 years, Vice-President of the Ferrari Club for 6 years, and having the position of the Ferrari Southern California Event Planner, I have learned a few important things about Ferraris.

Remember that all Ferraris are not created equal and you should check all available models in your price range.

For instance, a Mondial was mentioned early in this thread as a good car to own.
The Mondial is an entry level Ferrari, inexpensive, fairly reliable, but very slow and at the bottom of the list of Ferraris to own. I would suggest to stay away from it if possible. Sorry, but you will end up being made fun of, at least in the Ferrari Club."

    Huh.

This dude sounds like a jerk.

As (throwing creds around) a past 4 year VP and 2 year Prez of the DFW FCA chapter, I'll tell you that anyone that would make fun of a Mondial wouldn't be welcome in our crowd. Then again, we're just a bunch of gearheads. There are other chapters in our region that really are all about the checkbook.

They guy must really hate Dinos then--they aren't even real Ferraris! ;)

What a loser. Nobody who really loves the marque would turn up his nose at any model. Turn up at a drive in a Mondial with 3 lovely ladies. Then see how much they laugh at the 4 seater.

I just hope that moron is FOC and not FCA. It is people like that that caused the split in NorCal with FOC.

If he is FCA I would seriously ask you to wrie a nice letter to the FCA National Board with your concerns. If you do not know how to reach them let me know. I happen to be having one of them here to a BBQ today and can put you in touch with any and all. The FCA certainly ain't perfect but that ass and his opinions is not what it is about.

Sounds like one of those guys if you want to break his finger, hit him in the nose. If you want to hit him in the nose, kick him in the rear, because that is where his head appears to be permanently located.

It's sad but not all Ferrari guys are car guys. It's more of a status thing than a tribute to the pedigree of the car. And some clubs are the same. But its easy to sort those out and hang with the car guys :)

I think that the old Mondial gets a raw deal a bit like the 456, the thing is that both are Ferrari's and there are people that love them. I for one keep thinking about getting a 456 and using it as a daily driver but then I'm crazy.

On the other hand if you put a big spoiler on the back and added chrome rims with a Challenge stripe I could see where people might find humor.

I love TR's but but look at the wheels on his car in that thread. Makes it look like a kit car. With the red Momo seats in it, I wonder how much more bling he has in the car.

    Wow.
How totally low class that guy is.
If FOC had any cojones, they'd drop him like a hot turd. He just embarrased all of them.

Snob, they are all over the place, cheque book merchant who would not know one end of a spanner from the other and would would probably not know what it was for either.

Yes I have a Mondial because it is a Ferrari a Ferrari I can afford because I can work on it myself, of cause I would like a ENZO but I do not have the odd million hanging about.

A Ferrari is a Ferrari it is just some have more desirability, this of cause does not always fit with individuals disposible in come.

Anyway I love my Mondial 3.2, I could have bought a 3.4 t but that is bit more tricky for me DIY wise so the 3.2 it was.

me too. i am a gearhead. the wine and cheese bull****e turned me off to the whole group of them locally. we have a great group of owners in my car club, the Oglethorpe Driving Club.

i do like some cars more than others, but i am not going to "make fun" of someone who has bought something and wants to enjoy it.

Mondial or 308, they are still Ferrari's.

    miles of smiles.

My Mondial has recieved many compliments at FCA shows. Though there was this old lady who dissed my car because the child seat did'nt match the color of the leather!!

What's funny is that in post #115 in your linked thread there are TR pics, with probably the bling-iest aftermarket chromed wheels I've ever seen on a Ferrari. If you want to get laughed at an FCA/FOC event, this would be the way.

While a stock Mondial isn't going to be the star attraction at a Ferrari event, I doubt any real enthusiasts would make fun of it.

The Mondial is georgeous, and handles beautifully. Ferrari really came up with a good recipe in that chassis. Stay away???? Like staying away from Sophia Loren. Two thumbs way way W A Y up for the Mondial!

There's at least one in every crowd!

I, for one, like to see Mondials...as well as Porsche 924s, TR7s, MG Midgets, Lamborghini Espadas, Lotus Eclats, AMC Gremlins and Pacers....

If you like it and it makes you happy, that's what's important!!!

That guy is clearly an imbecile, and while I personally do not like Mondials as much, I still feel that they are every bit a Ferrari (its extra 2 seats can certainly give it an advantage over my '77 GTB when I'm doing something with friends!).
