I went to LSU's It was Enzo's first time in Tiger Stadium and he had a great time. We made it down on the field and he had is pic taken with Mike the Tiger. We only had about 35,000 or so there but there are other things to do in LA this time of the year. :)

    Post the pic Frank!

35,000 is still pretty good. I know big crowds for spring games are now all the rave, but 35,000 is still bigger than most other schools have EVER had at their spring game. (I'm in Clemson territory, and they had 24K at theirs, which was their record.)

I wouldn't mind eating a whole slew of crawfish after spending the day coasting the LA gulf for reds and kings......hope that's what you were doing Frank! They're having a crawfish boil up here in a couple weeks with a bunch of modern rock bands, but unless you're right on the Gulf, it just ain't the same.......

This really does feel like a SEC thread. Hopefully this year my Trojans won't drop a game to a weak conference team...but replacing most of our defense + qb leaves me a little worried

Don't worry I am sure they will be ranked #1 even if they were starting 22 Freshmen and a armless QB.

Ole Miss # 7...in the country, not the SEC for a change! :)

    link: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=schlabach_mark&id=4166221

    snippet:

"...Here's the third version of our way-too-early preseason Top 25, and there are several noticeable changes. Florida, with quarterback Tim Tebow and possibly the country's best defense coming back, remains a very solid No. 1. But Oklahoma and Texas flipped spots, with the Longhorns moving up to No. 2 and the Sooners falling to No. 3.

Alabama and LSU fell a few spots, and USC and Ohio State moved up a notch or two. Ole Miss was the biggest riser, going from No. 11 to No. 7. Not since Archie Manning played quarterback for the Rebels has there been this much excitement about football in Oxford..."

"...It might seem as if the Rebels are getting too much credit for their thrilling 47-34 victory over Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. But on paper, at least, they have fewer questions than every other SEC team except Florida. With quarterback Jevan Snead, receiver Shay Hodge and versatile Dexter McCluster coming back, the Rebels have plenty of firepower on offense. Defensive end Greg Hardy came back for his senior season and should be more effective after playing much of last season with a foot injury. Outside linebacker Patrick Trahan and free safety Kendrick Lewis are blossoming stars, and slimmed-down nose tackle Jerrell Powe should help Ole Miss replace departed star Peria Jerry. The Rebels' biggest concern heading into spring practice remains left tackle, where converted tight end Bradley Sowell tries to replace NFL first-rounder Michael Oher. The Rebels will play a very soft nonconference schedule (road game at Memphis and home games against Southeast Louisiana, UAB and Northern Arizona) and three of their most difficult SEC games (Alabama, Tennessee and LSU) will be played in Oxford..."

I have reasonable hopes that Nebraska is entering into a new period of relevance. We suffered through 4 dark years with a certain Bill Callahan, and I think Bo Pelini is one of college coaching's great talents. We will find out a lot this year. Virginia Tech in Blacksburg and Oklahoma could be losses. My trap game for the Huskers this year is Baylor in Waco. Art Briles has done an incredible job turning this program around, and they are going to shock some teams this year.

I am just not worried about Baylor. I may be wrong.

I think we have a serious shot against VaTech if we can come out strong. I think Helu will run wild on those guys. He is truly the difference maker and will run for 150 on them. I don't fear VaTech at all. Their QB is SO bad.

Fast forward to 2008, how about them Utes?????

Just kidding. Alabama has a storied past and I am sure they will field exceptional teams in the future as well.

Love the picture of you as the Drum Major. I would venture a guess that those were not Oakley sunglasses you were wearing. Our son marches in the TCU band. Loves it. Got to march in San Diego last year at the Poinsettia Bowl. Not a major bowl but they beat Boise State to end up being rated #7. Not a bad year for a team not expected to crack the top 20. We will have to wait and see about this year.

It looks as though we are starting out about where we were rated at the beginning of last year, #18. Lost a few starters but for the most part the team is pretty intact, especially the offense. And that after setting school scoring records and touchdown records last year. Defense was the strongpoint last year but this year we have to replace several starters there. Another wait and see what happens year......Go Frogs!!!!

The other two don't post on forums, they watch reruns of "Cops" to see how many former 'Cane's players they can spot :D

Good times for sure, but we have to give the Gators credit. They finally got out of the slump and beat us this past year. I think most of the current Gator nation has not watched a game with tht eGators coming out victorious, so it is nice to get that monkey off their backs. I also was at the game the last time we lost to them (the first home game of my freshman year at UM).
For last year's championship I felt that while Oklahoma had the athletes to compete, but that UF would win the coaching battle, and they did.
Looking forward to the next game against the Gators (2013??), we should be good to go by then!
It is fun to relive the past (as long as it is more than 4 years ago).
I went to a good game watch party last year to see UM vs. UVA and the ending was one of the best I have ever seen.
I felt like Nostradamus at the end of the game. I called both turnovers and one of the final scores about 5 seconds before each play.
    GO CANES!
    :)

I use to record all the games from the "Decade of Dominance" era. So I have alot of those games on DVD. Looking back, what a great era. I think, looking forward, they had a few GREAT recruting classes. So only time will tell.

Yes, our recruiting has been very strong the past few years. I am hopeful that we will have some coaching / coordinator stability now, and see the team compete for conference and hopefully national championship honors shortly. The only way we can derail this thread from being all SEC is to keep this convo going!!! No worries, the SEC will be fading shortly. 4-5 years in a row is the most you can hope for with the ever changing world of college football.
