Why not go for the Riley Daytona Prototype?

i look at it as a good value compared to a 430 challenge car. of course you can't run the challenge series, but if i ever did pull the trigger on a 430 Challenge, that would not be my intent anyway. shall i list the comparative merits?

It's nice that for $196K they give you new tires. I wonder what extra you need to pay to get it with a new engine???

What makes you think the operating costs are higher than say a Porsche Cup car or a Ferrari Challenge car? It has a Chevrolet V8 and doesn't seem too high-tech. I would think the cost of running it would be one of its strengths and it probably has the performance of a Porsche GT3 RSR.

mousecatcher was referring to DP vs TDC.

b-mak is right, go back and re-read the thread. i was actually saying that the operating cost of the TDC would be low, in fact less than a cup car or challenge car.

gt3 rsr? the TDC would run circles around any car like that. it can probably do 3.5 if not 4 g.

Do it . Riley technologies is a class organisation to be associated with. I own one of their wsc's and the initial tests on this car were great. I could be wrong but i believe it is faster than the DP as there are no restrictions.

I hosted the track event where the Riley TDC first hit track, and I also DROVE the car at the end of the day.

Would love to offer you my thoughts if you'd like to have a chat about it. If so, PM me for my phone number.

Either way, it is an AWESOME track day car and considerably less money to run and maintain than some of the alternatives.

Good luck with your choice! Feel free to contact me for details!

looks to have alot of DP DNA, like the greenhouse. Wonder if the GM LS7 would be a better choice - just throw in a Crate LS7. Why build a race engine if you don't have to? Is a 500 hp race 6.2 going to be more reliable? LS7 crate engines can be had for around $13K I think, outright.

Pretty fabulous car, but for trackdays I wonder if it is really overkill. No track events I ever attend have anything faster or more exotic than Cup cars and this will crush those. In fact, I'd think you will have big traffic problems with slower traffic, especially in turns.

I'd still love to have one, though! Maybe I could rent?

I think the idea is more "private track day" (rent track with buddies) than a DE track day. Or motorsport country club. I do private track days with friends regularly, very exotic vehicles ... the TDC would not be out of place.

For me, with this car I would race enduros.
