Slightly off topic, how much cash would have to be thrown at an F40 to convert to 1 central seat and dash (ala Mclaren F1). Also has this ever been done before? I'd like an F40 but i'm really not keen on LHD, and i'm not that keen on waiting or buying the Sultans converted car(s).
Those cars look to be in immaculate condition Joe. How on earth do they drive them around without any sign of stone chips? Are they using the 3M film?
That really illustrates how much cleaner the F40 is with a trimmed "mustache". Joe - Do you know the approximate cost to convert the lip? Is it a common request or application?
Im not sure if these cars sport film as I didn't take the images. Also, none of the images are real closeups that would reveal signs of stone chips... Im sure they have some. Personally I find its not too hard to keep any of these cars looking halfway nice. The only part I detest cleaning are the wheels so I just leave them till they get really sooty.
I don't know any costs, but you'd have to delete the USA lip, purchase an Eu splitter, remove the clips that held the USA lip in place, fill the application holes and paint the front spoiler below the "belt-line", and apply the EU splitter. No its not a common conversion of USA cars...
Eh, more complex than I had thought... I guess luckily we can just get the cleaner Euro cars up here!
For those who like a little something extra, "Ferrari's Tuner" Michelotto is quite busy with the maintenance and restoration of F40s. With their manufacture and competition experience with the F40LM on, they are perceived as the ultimate F40 specialists, and of course can make one run like it should, and more. At least one USA car has received 'the works' and will be a quick one from here on out. Speaking of original competition LMs, as I had indicated a few weeks ago, they are perceived to be of great value to the faithful. How much value? This one brought $1,300,000 this past weekend... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You're welcome. Here is F40 LM 97881 at full tilt on the straight in the rain at Monza... A classic image taken by Hugo Garritsen Image Unavailable, Please Login
The larger lip to compensate for the rubber bumper looks proportional. The half-step in placement of a eurospec lip while retaining the stock bumper looks odd IMO.
I agree. If you're going to "Europeanize" a USA F40, go all the way, as Stephen C did, or as seen in post 2736...

Cavallino No.41 is a great issue! Where is *73015* today? How are it's outside mirrors now mounted? CH
The first of just 6 F40s made in 1987, this was the one Enzo unveiled at Maranello. When the cover came off, it is reported in R&T that he uttered softly: "Bello, molto bello..." I don't know of its disposition currently I'm afraid...
As the bugs and stone chips on the nose would indicate F40 *73015* was the track car though no journalist could drive it. Also present at Fiorano was the only other complete car (74045?) that I would describe as the 'picture car' for all the journalists to get images. Perhaps Marcel would share a couple of pictures he took on that day at Fiorano in 1987... CH
Fantastic image Andrew. Here is an image of a car you'll appreciate, one of the pair of French-sponsored LMs that raced in the USA, this one taken by ejl1964 at Lime Rock circa 1990... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Would that would be the ex-Marshall #90568, in the stable of Mr. 90koenigTR ? Simply splendid: http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/cardetail.php?reqcardir=FE-F40-90568
Scott: Indeed 90koenigTR's USA F40 has been "blessed by Michelotto". However, the components were sent to the USA and the work was done here, by Wide World of Cars, if the information given me is indeed correct. The USA car I am referencing went to Europe on an extended holiday, and ended up staying at Michelotto!
