I can only say what I feel and when I was looking for a Ferrari, the lower end cars were not considered. Why? Because if I want a Ferrari, I wanted one that I can be proud of when I drive it. If I wanted a lower end car, I would get something more common, not a Ferrari. While the carpets, etc may not be in great shape, the car is priced at $16K. Thus, the type and number of buyers would be a bit limited (IMO).

Yes, the pictures are bad, the carpet is really nice, in fact, the floor mats are brand new from Ricambi, so yes, the photos suck. Also, a day after the auction now, people are coming out of the woodwork asking about my bottom line for the car with a few serious inquiries that are not scared by my bottom line so lets hope something pans out today. If not, I will attempt to reshoot pictures and repost. This is one of those cases werer I suck as a salesman because if anyone saw or drove the car in person it would be a done deal, it is that nice. I don't buy fixer uppers or junk for myself. I flew out to see this car before committing to it and that is all it took. I drove it home 1200 miles that day without incident. I think my next ad will allow others to ask the relevant questions and I will let the photos do the talking by having a separate image hosting website.....assuming I don't get it sold over the phone before then. I have already accepted the idea that I may just keep the car until a healthier economy comes along.

It's a buyers market. Way too many miles. Better options out there for similar price. Great color though.

Most of this has been stated several times already, but from my point of view...

If you look at the Completed Auctions on ebay, 95% of the Ferrari's are not sold because sellers are using ebay as a fishing expedition. When I see the sellers Buy It Now price, its usually what the reserve is set at. At the same time there are a lot of buyers out there who are hoping to score a find for a rock bottom price. Somewhere in between is the market value, and today, for exotics that price is dropping.

The nice part about ebay is the seller with photograph every possible angle. YouTube is a bonus. The more images the better. It shows you have nothing to hide. He!!, take it to a garage and ask the mechanic if he would put it on the lift so you could photograph the underside. Most would probably do it just to see the bottom them selves.

As far as PPI goes, I would like to see one. Granted that is going to be difficult since the closest dealership is in Phoenix, but some one in the
Arizona, Southern Nevada, & New Mexico Regional Areas might be able to recommend someone in Santa Fe or Albuquerque area. If you don't have one done, I as the buyer will have to or negotiate down everything that might possible go wrong. With a high millage Ferrari there too many unforeseen issues a PPI will revile, and it lets both you and the buyer know what is on the table. With that being said, I would ask someone who is known and reputable in the Regional area to recommend a shop. For example I have never meet Carlo in the Seattle area, but everyone raves about him. He did a PPI on a 308 and was very forthright about the car. He recommend passing on it.

The color, not a problem with me. Silver lets me fly under the radar and I am looking for a 328.

And as far as location goes, I don't mind flying out if it is worth a find and I have a return ticket if everything goes south.

OOOHHHH MAN. I flew to Houston and looked at this car two years ago. There are actually several long threads about this car. Big Tex knowns the history.

Unfortunately, one of three things has happened here.

    1) You SEVERELY overpaid for this car without looking at it ( it had major issues and was very rough two years ago) .
    2) You spent a fortune fixing this car ( doesn't sound like it with all the leaks and interior looking bad)
    3) You know it is in bad shape and hoping someone will pay twice what it is worth.

This car was on the market at an asking price of $24k ( I think they even dropped to $21k when it would not start) and this was two years ago.

Not to be a jerk but $36k is nuts. Hate to say it but if it is in the same shape it was two years ago $20k will be a stretch.

Wow, I remember that story now. Shoulda connected the "silver 328" story earlier. Man, the collective recall, research and now revelation on this board is unreal. The 'news' of this must not've been too well recieved by our seller. Yes, there is indeed more to the story; guess we'll wait and see.

I hope the seller has actually had the work done that he claims to have done to make it a "cherry" 328. Two years ago, this car was in really bad shape both mechanically and aesthetically . In the ad he says major was done at 46K miles ( I do recall seeing a receipt for that from F of Los Gratos). The car had 56-57k miles on it two years ago and now has 59k, so due to time and age, it does need a major.
The car had quite a bit of overspray and interior was a 4 at best, so if it is now "cherry" someone must have spent a lot of money of a full new interior ( not just Riambia floor mats). Now the booming stereo he is referring to was horrible with blown speakers, amp floating around under front bonnet and electric antenna not working.
If this car is indeed "cherry", he needs to produce some legible receipts showing a lot of issues being addressed and it might then be a $30k car ( being optimistic). If the work has not been done, he has really overstated the condition of this car to expose himself to some serious misrepresentation issues.

That could've indeed left a mark. This situation isn't funny, but that made me laugh.

Yet, in reserved sense of fairplay, we'll hope he did NOT know of the previous "thread of death" to the car (or wouldn't have bought it) and may not know what kind of fanatics we are, or our scale of 'mint' or 'cherry' or other such words. We've all seen it, heard it before. Maybe he doesn't know how to 'call' a car.

This is a bad example, but I know a very honest attorney (make your own joke here) here in town who spent like $55,000 having a MB280SE cabriolet cosmetically redone. Paint, leather, chrome, some mechanical tidying, etc, etc. He told me repeatedly that it was 'mint, perfect' and all that. He really beleived it. Then I saw it.

An overserved frat boy with lingering tremens would've done a better job on the paint. The leather work was deplorable. And on it went. He gleefully pointed at things he thought were great, that made me silently queasy. I never expressed an opinion. I couldn't take him down that far, that fast.

Sounds like the silver car was - at least at previous thread - WAY, WAY under the quality we'd classify as 'super nice'. Reality must be setting in for our seller.

No to keep beating a dead horse here, but from the latest Ebay ad should through up some flags

"One comment about the carfax, there was a disgruntled potential buyer some years ago that left some slanderous remarks because they were angry at the dealer. "

How does a "potential buyer" leave slanderous remarks on a Carfax? That's a new one on me.

Sad, but someone who knows nothing about Ferraris and just wants his dream car is going to end up with it.

Definitely an "eBay" type of car.

At least it gets 22-24 mpg. :)

In Carfax there is a section for people to leave comments if they are familiar with the car.

This is the only case I have ever seen any comments. Now I know why : P
