Hi there, I've been graciously offered an opportunity by our Italian friend and Fchatter Emilio, to reprint a FACTORY spare parts catalog, in high current-day quality. (We publish some things.) So before I embark on this largely labor of love and I can't take on all the manuals he's got, I wanted to see WHICH of the above this board is most interested in.

When I did manuals for Boxers, the best compromise (I'm not a fan of that word either, but it's all I've got this morning) was to do the BBi models since the Weber guys could get individual manuals detailing those, and 90% of the manual was totally applicable. With that thinking, flawed as it may be, the 328 would get the nod here. But I've not decided or I wouldn't be checking with you. So, your input would be appreciated.

Oh, and the manuals go from greasy torn versions in the $200 range to wrapped versions in the $400-600 range (WAY more depending on rarity/value of their respective model.) I'm thinking but not positive, I can have these done as a useable, crisp, accurate, sturdy piece for under $100. Let me know.... 308 or 328?

328 for me (1986). If I end up keeping the 308 that I'm trying to sell, I'd want one for that car as well (1978 GTS).

There's actually a big gap for the early 308GTBs as we have to use a GT4 WSM, I have it and the parts books too I think......

The 328 catalog would be the choice for reproduction.

I know I will probably be the only one for a Euro 308 GTS QV.

Current count is 328 = 7 to 308 = 5. And yes, Branko, you're the only person who wants the 308 Euro only!

Far as whether these are online or not, I'm unaware. This project is for an actual bound book to have, store, refer, post-it note pages, hold, dog ear, write specs and phone numbers, and especially to lay on the garage floor while you peer upside down attempting to find how that stupid inner panel attaches at the top of the firewall, and all that loveable old 'book' stuff.

Given the CURRENT response rate, I'd probably only get 20 books done, total. Those who publish know what a semi-ordeal this is, made worse by having shelves of undesired books for years in an ill-fated effort to drop the unit cost by a few dollars. So I plan to do a limited run, let those who want one, get one, and call it a day. Voting and comments can continue, 'cause it all helps. Thanks folks.

What about just scanning the manuals and then we could each print it ourselves. I usually print them on notebook paper and put them into a looseleaf binder which makes them easy to handle and work with on the bench. Just a thought.

I'd vote for my limited production, euro 328, since I know there's only a few of us out there.

BTW, we should probably do a poll....

No kidding. I wish I knew how to do that, maybe a Mod Only type thing. I'd be for it. Please tell me you'd accept a US 328 catalog, right?

I believe on the 328 spare parts catalogues that they finally got smarter and expanded it so that a single catalog covers all versions of each type. This is not the case on the 308/308i/308QV SPCs (so there are at least 6~8 of these). Consequently, if you're only going to do 1 catalog, you'd have a bigger market doing the 328 -- but you'd still have to decide if you want to do the non-abs 328 SPC or the abs 328 SPC.

My copy of the '88 328 parts catalog covers all markets, ABS and non ABS, pre-and post suspension mods, etc. It was a loose leaf binder so update pages could be shipped periodically.

The copy I scanned had a missing page, so I had to fill in one table from an '87 book.
I scanned it in medium high res, so the PDF file is nearly 60MB for 212 pages.

Also keep in mind that the originals are in Italian page format, so you cut some off converting to US letter size.
(I had to photocopy the borrowed book in letter size and then scan the letter size copy.)
