Ferrari 360 Modena and Audi R8 on a "spirited" drive today

Thought I'd share a few pictures of me and a buddy of mine who owns a gorgeous Audi R8 (white with carbon fiber blade). We had a great time on Redwood Road between Castro Valley and Oakland, California.

Very cool! My Lt's neighbor has a silver R8 that he comes to the station on occasion. I haven't seen it here yet, but missed it by about 5 sec last time. He was leaving as I was arriving from around a different corner.

Your 360 looks great, too. How would you compare the ride of each?

 

Performance is roughly comparable, but the character of each car is distinctly different. The R8 feels like an elegant daily driver until you start to push it and then the performance is obvious. Loads of torque and power. Cornering is excellent in the R8, but the car feels a lot like a luxury coupe. The Ferrari is a race car with more road feel, responsiveness and much better sound, in my opinion. With very similar acceleration, top speed, cornering and overall performance it's really a matter of taste. I prefer the Ferrari because I feel much more a part of the driving experience, but I'm totally biased, of course. Overall, I would have to say the R8 is a great car though.

Mark, how do you like those seats in your 360? I have the same ones and love them over the stock seats.

I like them very much. They fit me perfectly and are very comfortable. They really hold onto you when you drive at speed on twisty roads.

 

Is that the new TT? I almost picked up an R8 but the 360 Spider test drive sold me!!
