okay so i took your guys' advice and went with black barts for the fd/11 chrome cavallino. i bought it blindly since he does not have any images on his site of it, and i'm sorry i did it. i know better now. it came and it was not what i was expecting. the emblem is not going on a car, so the project i am using it for, it becomes the focal point and wasn't the detailed emblem i thought it would be. so even though it most likely was authentic because you all recommended the site (and because i found another thread that was showing real emblems next to fake ones and mine was marked as real), it just wasn't the emblem i was looking for as some of the ones i have seen are very detailed. so i sent it back, and did a little more research. low and behold i find part #196001. i look it up and it is listed as the emblem that is placed on the enzo's air intake manifold and is listed as the "cavallino rampante senza fissa". listed as a part only on the enzo for this particular spot, not for any other car. it looks to be more of what i am looking for, and two websites are selling it as well as an ebay seller. the ebay seller has been generous enough to send me a very detailed photo of it. i have attached a photo of the first emblem (first pic) that was sent to me (though authentic i am just looking for something a bit more detailed) as well as the one i'm looking to purchase. you guys think this one is okay for me to buy? it is smaller than part number 63233900, which is about 4.5" in length and is an outside emblem for later models. this particular one i am looking at is only 3" in length and is a part for the enzo, apparently. i also don't know if i should go with the larger 4.5" emblem because the surface i am mounting it on is only going to be 7" long and i don't want it to overpower it...i wish i could get it in 3.5" or 4" in length cuz then that would be perfect, but it seems to be either a little small or a little big...

what do you guys think? help is always appreciated...

    thanks.

The 4 1/2 inch one is for the back of several cars, including the 355 (I have one). They are as detailed as it gets. You can see muscle tone on the horse. EBay carries these as does Ricambi. Careful about eBay, though, some are fake. The real ones are pretty detailed. 3 1/2 is on my front grill. Same detail. but much smaller.

thanks very much. i was looking at ricambi to purchase from but saw i might actually be able to get it for a little less overseas at ferraripart.co.uk (known as "maranello classic parts") -- is this a reputable site? i am just not sure which size i should order. i am tempted to order both, but the part for the enzo intake is flat, which would be MUCH easier to put on the surface since i wouldn't have to shave down any bolts. do you have a part number for your 3.5"? i'm about to go look it up on a diagram for the 355...

    thanks for your reply...

Buying from overseas often takes forever for delivery. Postage will be higher also. Ricambi is 100% reliable! They are quick with delivery and parts are genuine. Hard to beat that.
    My front has a 64122300 ($65.98 at Ricambi) and measures closer to 3 1/4 than 3 1/2.
    Rear is 63233900 ($90.74) and measures 4 1/2.
Ricambi has a repo flat, non sculpted old style Ferrari cavallino 4 1/2 inch horse 61739400R for $96.90, but for my opinion, I like the detailed sculpted horses better.

The mounting posts are not all that long and can probably be grinded shorter or just snapped off if you must. I would try to preserve them, since that makes them usable on a real car.

I was looking at this picture and if a 1/2 inch is the issue, rotating the horse like in the picture would help make it shorter. On the car, the horse is a bit more vertically aligned, in the package it is tilted a bit forward making it measure less vertically.

thanks very much for all your help. i don't have the object i am using this for in my hands at the moment, but i measured out the size i need and i am pretty sure the 4.5" cavallino is just going to be too large. so now, as you say part 64122300 is the very detailed horse in the second photo and slightly larger than 3", i'm narrowing it down between these two. i would like to preserve the bolts since then it could be used on a real car, but i think it just won't work with that i am using it for. the surface just isn't thick enough and they would stick out of the back. so now it is between 196001 which is the flat-back 3" emblem (requires no removal of mounting studs) or 64122300, just because it is a bit larger but requires the removal of the studs...and now as you mention i'd rather leave them intact :(

maybe i will just order both and send back the one i don't want. lol i just wanted to try to avoid doing that at all costs since i already had to send one back that i didn't like.
