    Hi all,

Just about to buy a 06 612 with about 13,000 miles from a friend of mine....any thoughts on how much is a reasonable price???? I'm in CA.

Also, I saw a 612 a while back that sounded awesome!!!!!!!!!! The owner told me that putting a HGTC or HGTS package would do the job.

Any way I can do that to mine after I buy it....cost? Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Don't take the lack of response as a personal slight or lack of love for the 612 but there aren't many 612 owners on board and I'd guess even fewer who know about the upgrades you're considering.

If I were in your shoes I'd contact a few authorized dealers and ask them the same questions you asked F-Chat. Based on their replies I'd make my decision. Or better yet, ask the owner, or previous owner.

Cavillini, there are a lot more 612 owners on this board than you might think-- I would hazard to say that there are almost more 612 related threads here than 599 threads.

As for the original post, it is possible to buy the HGTS exhaust, although I believe it's very expensive. If you really need a louder exhaust on your 612, you might look around at the various after market options instead.

I understand that the HGTS/HGTC exhaust is similar to the Tubi, but the Tubi for the 612 is slightly louder and alot less expensive at about EUR3,400.

Basically, in standard guise, the 612, like all modern V12 Ferraris sounds poor. By this we mean there is no visceral edge to the exhaust/engine note. The huge engine produces dramatic performance but unfortunately, sounds like any other car on the road. The point is made clearer when you compare the Ferrari 612 or even the 575M with, for example, the Aston Martin Vanquish which produces a lovely idle exhaust note full of presence and intent, but under throttle delivers a fabulous V12 roar which thrills the driver and adds another dimension to the driving experience.

The Tubi exhaust delivers this Aston-like result for the Ferrari 612 - a truly spectacular classic Ferrari V12 bark which really adds to the excitement of driving the car. Crucially though, the result it is in proportion to the "nature" of the car (i.e it is NOT overly loud, intrusive or "showy"/tacky) and it will NOT in any way compromise the usability of the car. Essentially, with the Tubi, the 612 sounds like V12 Ferrari ought to.

The Tubi is a lighter free flowing exhaust system than standard and as a result, reduces engine backpressure. This gives the car more power - the gain is in the region of 20hp. Unless you are a very capable driver you are unlikely to be able to tell the difference in outright shove as the car already has soo much power, but the increased performance is definitely there.
Finally the polished tailpipes of the Tubi exhaust are double walled and beautifully finished in a silver polished look which augments the whole look of the rear of the car.
It really does give the 612 a beautiful sound.

The Tubi system does not include the catalyst, unlike other manufacturers Tubi do not need to sell you a catalyst as well to make the car sound good! The system sounds incredible with just the rear boxes.
