Well, it's getting to be about that time, the time for some of you to chow down on a big plate of crow, while others snicker at the sight.

It's all in good fun... but... gloating is just too tempting to pass up.

The 2009 Crow award will go to those who have flamed Jenson Button over the years, saying he was nothing or not a talented driver. There are quite a few eaters this year, and quite a few snickerers.

Amongst those who rated Jenson, even when he was at the lowest of low points in his career, are such people are:

    our friend Kraftwerk who said

    Noekult who proclaimed

Ferraridude615 who said (might be a few feathers in your mouth buddy but not a whole crow :)
Casino Square, possibly Button's stongest supporter, who said (of Button criticism)

And our friend Tifosion who gets to be the guest of honor this evening for this prophetic comment

    Right on, Ron!

And now for the crow. Don't worry guys, we have plenty of lukewarm roadkilled crow out back on big silver platters. The first plate goes to....

    Aquapuss, who said of Jenson

Simon^2... sorry buddy but one of these platters has your name on it!

I put myself into the snickerer category by replying to Simon with

But my respected colleague Senna1994 does have to crunch on a beak for the following reply:

I get extra props for suggesting...

Spirot gets a big fat juicy crow for this Buttonism

And Drive550PFB should have Button'ed his lip before saying this!
    A joke indeed! ;)

But my friend Maxorido quickly earned his snickering rights with the following reply

Aquapuss actually gets a rare 2nd helping of crow for being extra inflammatory towards Mr. Button!

(in response to the suggestion that Button could replace Heikki @ McLaren)

And sorry to MBFerrari who, despite having a cool screen name, still gets a crow, albeit a small one.... for saying this about good ol' Jens speed...

ianjem gets a double extra supersize crow with extra vegemite for this one

SonomaRik gets a rank, stinky crow for suggesting

    Enjoy it, Rik!

Oh and the biggest and deadest crow is reserved for our favorite F-chatter, Lucky 13! Who convincingly stated...

    Way to go, Lucky!

    Enjoy the crow, everyone!

Good one Michael No, its not too early, the Brawns are on a roll. I do not see much changing between now and Abu Dhabi.

And if it does change, what will happen, Jenson starts getting some seconds and thirds, maybe a coupe of fourths, even one DNF?? I don't have time to do the math, but I think if he averaged at least third for the rest of the season, and first and second was split between Vettel, Raikkonen, and Massa, then I think Jenson is still WDC.

I'd normally call something like this premature, but considering no team has put any real challenge to Brawn in the first third of the season I think it would be foolish to expect a big enough turnaround for another team and a massive downfall for Brawn. I mean c'mon-as a team Bran has more than double the points of second-running RBR who, lets face it, isn't exactly a Brawn-level team. The only team I could see becoming competitive enough to challenge would be Ferrari, but there is far to large of a margin between them to expect them to recover and go on to win the championship. Same goes for the WDC.

The awards are fixed. One major supporter of Jenson Button was not mentioned, so the post is entirely pointless, skewed and useless. Oh by the way .... Go Button! :D

To be TOTALLY honest, I fully expected you to be firmly in the crow-server category Jim, but my search was on my posts with the word "Button", because I remember a few people saying I was nuts for thinking the guy had talent.

So just to be clear for everyone Jim is most certainly NOT eating crow on this one. There were a couple of close calls, maybe a few beaks and claws need to be munched on here and there but Jim isn't one of those folks.

Hmmm I may have to search you two troublemakers posts to see if your replies were based in deep rooted fear of having to eat some crow! :D

I don't know if I would be jumping on the Jenson train just yet. Yes, he's having a great year, but most of that is obviously due to the car, hence Rubens' performances as well. Brawn has obviously got a jump on the other teams with the massive rule changes that have taken place for this year. All this to say that if you plugged in Hamilton, Alonso, Kimi, Massa, or Kubica into Ruben's car, do you think Jenson would have more wins than any of them? I wouldn't bet on it.

I have to admit I got this one totally wrong regarding Button. I thought he was a guy that got lucky when he got Zanardi's seat at Williams and later got the big pay cheques with pretty bad results except for 2004. But I have to admit, boy was I off on this guy, the funny thing is Ted always said that Button was an excellent driver.

For me, the big test would come if Brawn can attract a top caliber driver. You know Rubens has got to be thinking about retirement pretty soon, and the way Brawn is performing, they may very well be able attract a big name, if that is what they would want to do. They may go the route of acquiring a supporting driver for Jenson - I hope not.

They might not be able to afford one of the top guys and will maybe go for an up and coming young driver with the potential to take over the mantle from JB in a couple of years.

Well, they got Sir Richard Branson investing in them presently, and if they go on to win the Championship this year, which looks very likely, you know sponsors will be climbing all over themselves to get on board, so I don't think money will hold them back.

Jenson is still very young, and will probably be around for another decade.

Touche SRT, nice pull on me there :p :p

As much as I love RB, Button has his number so far this year, but I haven't given up hope just yet. Long way to go!

It would be interesting to see Alonso in the other seat, or maybe Vettel next year if RB steps down...

This was in a 08 Lewis bash thread, I really find funny, as Lewis is deemed another hopeless case, like Button, Lewis wins the WDC and Button has now nearly got this years in the bag... learn F1 my arse ..LMAO eat it PSK...:p

Thanks Steve, well I am really joining the Fair Weather Club now, as I really do want Button to excel and win as much as possible, because I don't think he will have a car like this again. This is one of those incredible moments in F1 History and Button seems like a genuinely nice guy, and it is a miracle story for Brawn as well. I bet Bruno Senna must be crying in his sleep that Rubens got the drive in the second car instead of him

aww, do I have to have vegemite with my crow? can't stand the stuff... the crow's bad enough on it's own!

yeah, it certainly appears I was wrong when I referred to him as a has been... However I'm certainly not convinced that he's the second coming of MS, as certain British web sites seem to be suggesting. For that he'd need to actually race and pass a few people on the track. This year he's simply driven off into the distance. But then he couldn't care less what i think, he's the guy earning millions a year, living in Monaco...

    cheers
    Ian
