Hey guys, hope everyone is well. After a leg cramping long 15 hours, I made the flight to Iwakuni Japan. I got here last friday, but I was too busy getting settled in and understanding the area. So far, I love it alot out here and there's so much to learn about the people and the culture here. The people here are very friendly and the most polite I've ever met. I'm still waiting on the other half of my things to arrive from the states so I don't have my camera at the moment. I'll get some pictures up on here as soon as I can. Anyhow, I'm thinking about starting a thread talking about my life in Japan and how exciting it is out here. I'm even planning to go on a climb to the summit of Mt. Fuji next month, so I'll have plenty of pictures of that as well. Again, thank you to all of you guys here on the forums for supporting me and keeping the club exciting for me to be apart of. I'll continue to keep you guys updated on my 24 month venture here in the land of the rising sun. I miss seeing you guys and all the wonderful Ferrari's you all own. Best wishes to all of you!!!!!

PS: By the way, it's 2pm on a thursday over here. So if I post on here, you all might be asleep. But I can always ask you guys how yesterday is going right? Haha

    Keith,

We are glad to here that you arrived in 1 piece. I don't know if I could ever do a 15 hr flight...The longest for me is 8 and I almost went out of my head, couldn't wait to get off the plane. I am looking forward to reading about your adventures over there and seeing lots of pics. Good luck, be safe and thanks again for all you do to keep us safe.

    Keith,

Mt. Fuji, huh? Sounds like a great adventure. Now they tell me a true Marine will do it in full battle gear, double time and weapon at "High Port." Is that true? If that's your plan, I'll order-up a UAV to photo the trek and the conquest. :)

    Enjoy!

Keith, I had a summer job in Hiratsuka (south of Tokyo) back in 1990 and I also climbed Mount Fuji, it will be something you will never forget. Enjoy the climb, be sure to buy the walking stick and dress warmly, it can be very cold at the top even in the summer.

Keith - you will love the climb up Mt Fuji - take comfy shoes, quite a bit of 'gravel' on the way up. Kinda' hard walking. Also take plenty of water too.

Make sure to take the train to Yokahama - great shopping district.

You'll love buying beer and liquor right of of streetside vending machines.
If you didn't realize it yet, in the local pubs, you buy and store your own whiskey bottle. ASK THE PRICES FIRST...we got nailed on drinks to the tune of $1800 US one night (about six/seven pepole) - ouch! I think they got us for a "membership fee" too. Hard lesson learned.

If you get a chance, check out Miura, a small town on the Bay where you can see Mt. Fuji far off in the distance. It's a resort area that many people from Tokyo visit in the summer.

If you get to Tokyo, make sure to visit the Shinjuku (sp?) prefecture and pickup some cool electronics. It must be where Santa stores all his inventory.

Have a great deployment and hope to see you when you return.

LA wants to know if your sister liked the Ferrari t-shirt? I hope you aren't wearing it (LOL).

Awesome, Keith! I flew to Japan by way of the Philippines and what a long flight that was, too! Nothing like travelling completely in darkness, sleeping and then waking up still on the plane - strange feeling. Going back, it was sun all the way (around 20 hours from D.C.)

Enjoy - and Polite is the right word! Check out those cool odd cars, too (unavailable here)!
