From these pictures, the tire's look fine (i.e. no blowout).

Who would have thought 40mph could cause so much damage? ;)

I will try (obviously I am not giving any veracity to these claims, I merely speak Kentucky-ese)

He appears to be insinuating that this event could be related to a recent incident in which his heart doctor was recently busted for allegedly writing illegal prescriptions for cash. He is also alluding to the fact that there is a history of Kentucky and drug conspiracies....here is a link to a Wikipedia article if anyone is interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_C._Thornton_II

"Bundas" also seems to think that his theory is corroborated by the fact that this Dr's son happens to be into fast cars.

This post seems to address the stereotypes that people have about Kentucky....I suppose that "Bundas" has had a difficult time in business because of the financial/political climate here. Of course, it could be the same everywhere (as pontificated by Mr. "Bundas.)

The officer must have been going around a right turn........we all know that North American drivers only know how to make long, constant left turns on oval surfaces!

Well............ put 530hp in a 1300kg car on cold tyres without any form of traction control, then add an inexperienced driver with a heavy right foot and this outcome is entirely possible. My car will light up the rear tyres in first and second on Pirelli P-Zero's pretty easily when the tyres are cold.

As for the damage, it will be extremely expensive and the tub is mere inches away from that impact point. If the tub is damaged the bill would be very serious indeed.

The Culprit! According to the video feed the cause of the accident was " Slick Tires". It always amazes me when anyone. Especially someone in authority does something stupid and blames everything else but his own poor judgement. Here is the case of someone who was not the registered owner of the ferrari. Who had the legal authority to take someone elses property and then treated it as his own personal toy. He obviously had no experience driving an expensive exotic.Instead of erring on the side of caution and driving defensively. Foolishly decided to play with someone elses property, lost control and caused major damage. The govt's auction price on the car just dropped by 50%. Another fine example of our tax dollars at work.

I think they should of towed the car from the scene from the get go instead of letting anyone drive it, BUT to assume the agent was treating it poorly or like his own playtoy is assumption and not smart to say.... For all you know the agent has been to 100 racing/driving schools....

Nice conclusion jumping there. the story also said:
Oh, but I know, the cops always cover for each other, right? The F50 has a black box that can tell the real story.

I'm surprised the protocol for impounding/seizing cars isn't "take them away by flatbed".. because how do you know they are in roadworthy/driveable condition?

Obviously that may be the case here.. the car may not have been driven for a while etc...

    Playing devils advocate:
I see they say it was going 40mph at the time of the accident (hitting several trees).. I wonder what it was doing before the agent hit the brakes ;)

No respect for "Guilty" people's property. Gassed it, pitched it sideways, lost control. As a taxpayer I'm tired of paying for stupid law enforcement shenanigans. Repair should be coming out of his/her pocket. P.S. Should have taken that 101st racing/driving class instead of stopping at 100.

I take it you were there and saw the incident happen? Or are you another one "assuming" what happened? Let me guess it involved a law enforcement official so let's jump on the bandwagon and start bashing....Pathetic.... I am a taxpayer also and if wanted to shout about something,,,How about the millions living on welfare that don't really need it???

Sorry, but I have to jump on the bandwagon here as well.

Having been in a driver in high performance a vehicle and experiencing a blown tire at much faster speeds, in a corner no less, I can assure you this would not most probably have not even happened to Elmer Fudd, if he was driving that particular F50 at 40 mph. You'd have a hard time convincing me otherwise......and yes, anti-cop bias also plays a part.

If I was the vehicle owner, I'd be suing the FBI for negligence in a counter claim to whatever action must have been brought against me.

The video says "slick tyres" while the news report says it was blown tyres that caused the crash. One of them has obviously got to be wrong. Still, the damage doesn't look too severe. I don't know much about how durable F50s are, but the video only showed a damaged door. That could have concievably have been caused while going at 40mph.

Looks like someone got stupid, and cost either the owner or the government a bunch of money. I've had 40 mph blow outs, and there is no way you go off the road with one. That car probably stops with just 3 tires working in less space than it took to go off the road, so if I had to bet, he was probably on the gas when whatever happened, happened. Should have been towed away. Another example of squeezing the nickel until the buffalo sh1ts, and the consequences of being too cheap.

Another Government attempt at a cover up. This car would not swerve out of control at 40 miles an hour due to a flat tire. Nice try Feds. Flat bedding is appropriate mode of transport here.

I know more than you think, and know when I can disclose on a public forum, and when not, but if it makes you feel better thinking I don't, that's OK. Its a small world you know. As for your constant stupidity on a public forum, that's well-documented, by none other than yourself.
