The anti-law enforcement bias is strong here.

First if it was an actual FBI Special Agent, he/she has had much more driver training in a variety of different vehicles than almost anyone here on FerrariChat.com; second there is just as big of a chance that the F50 was driven by not an agent, but by an administrative or support employee of the FBI.

This thread was already started in the Supercar section but I guess the person who started here figured it would be seen by more people in the General Discussion section. There are photos showing more extensive damage in this thread:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=244774

Consequently - any damage whatsoever on a F40 or F50 is severe since the body is a carbon fiber/kevlar mix. It can't be repaired to it's original condition without losing the appearance of the weave through the paint which is original from the factory. I guess someone who is a master with exotic materials could somehow blend in new pieces and paint it accordingly but the repair would be severly expensive.

My guess at repairing the front bumper, door, side skirt, and rear hatch on this car could conceivably be in excess of $50k.

If you're going to gossip, start rumors, or just guess about something that happened thousands of miles from where you live, why don't you pull up to these other housewives at the backyard fence.......

Everything you posted up until the last sentence falls under the category of "obvious"...nothing earth shattering or revealing there.

Your last line is completely incorrect. The car was NOT confiscated by the FBI and will NOT be sold on by them.

To counter another misconception flying around, this case has nothing to do with drugs, period. That is misreporting by the TV station, and not the first time that has happened either :)

SO, until the case is complete and closed, I will sit back and watch the idle speculation...makes for interesting reading if nothing else.

Quite correct Harry. A few fchatters have been privy to the details as events unfolded in real time. As trusted friends, they have kept silent on the matter until due course, when they will be able to corroborate key details and cut through the BS.

You are so funny. Resorting to name calling as usual when proven yet again incorrect. Classic Sackey practice. Grow up.

Hmmm, very interesting. Thank you for your input; I would love to know the whole story one day. It doesn't surprise me that the local media has gotten it wrong, but it would be interesting to know the how and why of that (i.e. if they get something like this wrong, what ELSE could they be misreporting??) Again, thanks for the insight.

2 things of note from the autotraded article...

1st if there was a tire blowout i'd expect one of the tires to be flat and it doesn't appear that way.

2nd the grigio silverstone f50 is for sale on autotrader for 375k pounds?

If you are going to keep "gossip, start rumors, or just guess about something" off of the internet, this is going to be a very quiet place.

We can go to P&R and agree on welfare all day :)

And you're right that we don't know exactly what happened there. But here are the facts on the ground. Tires blowing out are rare, people acting foolish with other peoples toys is common and the officer is almost certainly to blame here. Yeah it's possible he's had significant track time and was acting responsible, but POOOOOWWWEERRR *breaks traction* *CRASH* is much more likely.

We're all speculating, but it's not hard to imagine that the FBI officer would be interested in driving an F50 (instead of having it flat-bedded), and in exceeding 40 miles per hour.

First impression is that it does sound like a joyride gone bad.

I'd have to agree. The details - slick tires, tire blow out, 40mph crash, etc. - are all inconsistent with the damage. The F50 has NO driver aids - no traction control, etc. It is Ferrari's closest example to a F1 car they've ever built for the street. Under full acceleration the back end breaks loose through in 1st and 2nd gear without even trying. Everyone's heard the horror stories about Carrera GTs being a hand full. The F50 has similar traits. You just don't hear about incidents when there are only 50 or so F50s in the country of which very few are ever driven on a regular basis. Not hard to imagine someone - whether he's a FBI agent or not - wanting to gun the accelerator to see what the car could do. I guarantee the acceleration surprised him!

    Jas is correct.
    Napolis is correct.

All the news reports are wrong.
    The FBI is not involved.
    There are no drugs involved.
The district attorney and a local attorney are wrong.
Its all a big mistake. I know nothing.

As suggested, on June 8th, things will be clearer.

Guys, just chill, your wasting bandwidth.

Speculation is rife, all of which is probably wrong so quieten down a bit. Its a shame peoples lives are made so public just because of a car they own. Yes ok some criminal activities may be evident but would we even had known if it wasnt for the car?
