A Texan purchased one in 1986. He proceeded to drive it to work every day, until a few years ago. It has 75,000 km. His Lordship John Mexborough stated in a magazine article that his GTO was his everyday car for the first 5 years.
I dont think you saw 20 GTOs in California. There are only a few more than that in the whole of the USA. Seeing just one on the road sounds about right though...
Anyone know the chassis number of this French GTO that lives in the Manoir de L'Automobile in Loheac? There is an F40 there too... Pic by fabvt Image Unavailable, Please Login

That's the spirit. I used mine as a daily driver for a while. I even found a skunk that would sleep on the gas tank. Crafty devil. Then I started acquiring more cars and seat time went down. Steve
Steve you'll be pleased to hear that when I spoke with David W in Kauai he told me that he drives his 288 "all the time" and that its very reliable. He has the other 3 Supercars also as you probably know...
Some cars there are from the ex Pozzi Collection. So it is possible that the 288 GTO also comes from the Pozzi collection. It's just a guess.
Is this car currently in Manoir de l'automobile ? I checked with friends who know this museum, and till october 2008, no GTO was there. May be it arrived after ?
Yes Im told it is currently there, but Id love someone to check and if so, establish its chassis number.
FabVT took a pic of a 288 GTO there at some point this year as posted above (#3695). It has the yellow driving lamps per a French-delivered car.
