I am thinking about selling my 456M GT as I have a new project that is eating up garage space so the car has been relegated to storage. Before putting is up for sale I am considering repainting the front bumper and possibly the hood because of stone chips and road rash - question: With all the stigma about repainted car.. is that a wise move? Also, it has Novitec rims, I am better off removing them and putting the stock back on so it's not seen as "mod'ed" (the Novitecs are so much better looking and update the car). Finally, for those keeping tab on the market, what's the ballpark for an '01 6sp with 34K miles in good condition?
    THX for input.

Keep it as is. Any one wanting a more 'classic' buffed up model will do so. Don't go to the extra expense at all.
    ;)

sell as is, with a full disclosure, becuase if you don't we'll have to hunt you down. :D ... you represent a prior owner and owe it to the next guy

and PS: You should meet this guy: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=244850

[entirely too much thinking going on in here]

stigma about repainting? my friend you do realize about 90% of all exotic cars get the bumper + hood resprayed on a fairly consistent basis right? Who honestly thinks that a front end respray is anything but a good thing?

"WHAT, HE REPAINTED THE FRONT END TO LIKE NEW??? NOO!!! I WANT THE UGLY STONE CHIPS!!! GIVE ME THOSE STONECHIPS!!"

    ridiculous..

I wouldn't consider a front end respray a bad thing at all.. it wouldn't affect resale price at all for me.. as a matter of fact I would pay for for a fresh front end respray as it means I do not have to pay for it myself!

you are entirely correct, but should he spend the money...50/50 IMO, but, I would do it, just not seeing the need.

Ha - in the conspiracy theory world we live in, any sign of repaint points to a sordid story ;) in my case the car was....driven (scary isn't it)

Don't lose sight of the fact that this is a used car not a classic with a pedigree to be protected. The best thing about this car is that it can be used in the real world without worry.

I'd say yes to the respray (shows you care about the car), but I'd sell the Novitecs separately because the buyer probably won't pay a premium for them and there's a ready market on f-chat and ebay (assuming they're not badly curb-rashed). Depending on the wheels' size, design and condition, you might even get $4k or more.

exactly my point.. this is a contemporary ferrari.. used to be driven.. this is simply not an issue and completely standard practice on any driven exotic car.. from 200k ferrari to 2MM bugatti veyron.. if it gets chips the owners will spray them.. period. everyone does this.. if you expect a car with 1k or more miles not to have any chips or respray.. it's either very lucky or a lie..

if you are selling it.. don't bother let the next owner pay for it..

Frenchie- If you want to sell the Novitecs or trade them for my 18" 575M wheels and tires, send me a PM. I already know they will fit my car.

Allan- Sure has, or at least has commented on them. They are NF2s. Believe he first tried 20" NF2s on the back, but no go. In one of the past threads. Frenchie can chime in with his comments.

There are only two current types of Novitec wheels, 19" and 20" NF2s with bolt patterns for 456/360/550/575M/430 and for the 612 and 20" and 21" NF3s.

Yes they are the NF2s. It's a little premature for me to decide what I will do with them, I will probably offer as part of the package for the car with the OEMs included. If I can't get a fair price for the car I will keep it in storage, for later use.

What's a reasonable price, anyone made a recent acquisition?

Wheels are great and I can easily imagine how they'd look on my car because, from the photos, your car looks almost like grigio ingrid in that light although I imagine your 456 is an argento. And I must admit, they'd also look mighty fine on Taz's 575M.

Frenchie- Some data points. A new set of 360/575M NF2s with P Zero Rossos tires are ~ $9000 from Exotica. A used set of f430 NF2s (19" F, 20" R) with new P Zero Rossos has gone unsold through several cycles on E-Bay for $6000. Just data points, mind you.

Like the Ape said, those wheels look great on your car, and, he did not say, would look even better on my car.

That is one nice 456M. Most likely already has the sintered steel valve guides and window fixes from the factory. Engine mounts done? Not as big a deal as for the 550, where damage can occur on various oil related systems and the 456M has more room.

575M with NF2s attached. Mine is red, too, but not lowered.
