Congratulations Ape Man! Sorry to lose you from the F430 club but at least you're still in the F community. Sounds like a wonderful car. I agonized for months on what to order. It's heaven and also torture!

Congrats to you. I took the jump from an F430 Spider to the 599. And, I'm partial to black/black with yellow calipers myself (I thought I had ordered the full electric seats, but hadn't; to this day I give my salesman crap about that; I'd have liked the seat heaters ):

Btw the Bose system is quite crappy and IMO not worth it. The sound quality in my Merc SL 350 is so much better than the Bose sound system in the 599. Plus the 599's exhaust note sounds so good you'll probably never turn the radio on! I think it's a better idea to just get a cheaper and better sounding aftermarket sound system upgrade.

 

You should really consider going to the Atelier in Maranello to see what can really be done. As speced the car will be wonderful but it will have a twin. If you see what is really possible you can truly make yours a one-off.

 

I initially concurred with that assessment, but after learning how to bypass the Bose system's preset equalization parameters I would now have to disagree. Ape, when you get your car, either PM me or post and I'll point you in the directions to bypass the Bose settings. Ask anybody on here, you'll want to do it.

 

congrats ape on your soon to be delivered 599, I too jumped in from the 430...I thought the 430 was the car, but the 599 is on a whole other level..it makes a wonderful daily, is very comfortable, and super super super super fast...the details to the car are incredible...the last option you mentioned is interesting, and will love your feedback on it..I hope your experience will be as nice as mine...with close to 2000 miles on the clock the only two items I would have liked to see imporved are 1. the sound (if you enjoyed the cracking and popping of your 430 you will miss it on the 599, the cockpit noise is muffled 2. get a good leather cleaning agent for the sideboards next to your seat...if you wear any kind of shoes with black soles the boards stain easy and need constant cleaning....other than that buddy the car kicks butt and will satisfy all driving senses...I am scheduled to be on top of the 430 replacement list, but can't see how this car can be topped...let me reiterate the car is really really really fast....

concerning the bose system I must disagree with Sareve...I had the bose in the 430, and was quite satisfied with it, I did not get it for the 599 and miss it...there is quite a difference between the two...My wife drive the gl450 mercedes, and I find the radio without the bose system on my 599 to be on par with it...I don't know if your 430 had the bose system, if it did you know what you're getting if it didn't my experience tells me you'll be happy with it

jj makes a good point...I never thought much of doing this, but the owners site (ferrari.com) provides a virtual tour of the factory...I will consider this option on my next purchase...
