Anyone have any experience with the Larini stainless exhaust from Ferrari Parts Exchange, (or any other supplier I suppose). The price looks pretty good. Any other suggestions for relatively affordable stainless systems. I happen to be one of the group that am NOT looking for a subdued sound quality. I am fine with a little louder than stock and more Tubi style than Ansa. Anyone with experience here, your imput would be appreciated. Thanks!
I sent a email to Larini asking the price of their system for my 308 and learned that Recambi was now the U.S. distributor. Someone on here (GtFour i believe) posted a sound bite of his and it sounds wonderful. To my ears Tubi just sounds louder but the Larini sounds exotic. My only reason for not buying one was price. $2500 plus shipping and install get to around $3000 for an exhaust on a car worth $25,000. I'm going for the dynaflow homemade setup once i fix my steering rack.
I had an X-Ost on the GT4 and it sounded a treat.Good quality in the build as well, and quite affordable,at least in comparison to the Tubi.
I have a Larini exhaust in my 77 308. Got it direct a few years ago. Looks great and sounds great. Total freeflow. Had the option for the thermal resonator, but wanted no restrictions. Very light compared to stock. About a 40lb. difference.
Thanks so much for this. I was having trouble with the site and it was comming up with page not found every time I did a search, although I knew there had to be a thread. So, are you happy with the build quality of the system? It seems loud on throttle, but pretty okay at idle. Would you concur this? Thanks again, T.
Again, for the money, I think you will have a VERY hard time beating a larini; it looks great and sounds great, and is a very high quality exhaust. Have you checked out their website? www.larinisystems.com
Build quality was excellent - no installation issues. I removed the cats, so my car is a little louder that those with cats. They do offer test pipe with built in mufflers. Car sound is an individual preference. Here's my impression; Idle - throaty; acceleration - very exotic; cruise - depends, at some of the lower rpms it can be quite loud. Would I purchase it again - definitely. -GT
I have a larini which I originally purchased for my 328. However I live downtown and this combined with a test pipe was just to uncomfortable for me. Car alarms going off and awkward stares just got me too much attention......... The product is great though and well made and fitted perfectly with no issues at all. If I lived out of town or even in the suburbs I would keep it. But I don't so its for sale. Only sticking point is the shipping cost from here in Taiwan. If anyone is interested I'll give you a good deal to alleviate the disadvantage of geographical location - I'd like to get it out of my garage and someone else could be benefitting from it instead of having it wasting away on a shelf. I also have a test pipe for sale I don't need if anyone is interested in that. I finally went back to the original muffler but added a Hyperflow cat instead which improved the sound enough and reduced engine bay temps considerably. pm me if anyone wants a perfect almost unused Larini muffler to fit a 328. Cheers Mark Taiwan/UK
Interesting, I've never heard of Larini before this thread. Also, Anyone have any experience with 3x8 mufflers by either Timevalve: http://www.timevalve.com/cat/ferrari/catidxf.html or P.D. Gough & Co. in England? http://www.pdgough.com/ I've never heard of either company, yet they make Ferrari mufflers! I recently took a chance on eBAY for a Euro QV muffler for my car. It was described as: When I unpacked it, I was impressed by it's construction quality. Usually SS mufflers are fairly lightweight. This one is obviously stainless, but it's made from much heavier gauge metal than I'm used to seeing in mufflers! I did find it interesting that it reads like TimeValve was copying the PD Gough mufflers rathar than OEM ones.
Was curious to see how well I did with my eBAY muffler purchase, so asked PD Gough for a quote on a Euro QV muffler & headers. Their response: Those are very competetive prices for an all SS mufflers & a pair of SS headers!!!
I would agree this is very good pricing. Have you installed it yet? If so, hows the sound? More Tubi, or more Ansa? The pics on the Timevalve website look very much like Ansa stuff. How much heavier than other SS systems is it? For me at least, the weight savings is one of the reasons to get a SS system for a 308. Thanks!
I'm in the middle of my supercharger project, won't be installing it untill late summer so can't comment on the sound. IMHO the TUBI is too loud, my OEM muffler was an ANSA & I"m hoping this is similar sound. Don't know a Tubi's weight. Will weigh it and my OEM ANSA muffler when I get a chance, probably will be several weeks.
