According to the latest issue (#171) of PRANCING HORSE (Ferrari Club of America's official publication) second quarter 2009... on the "RUMORS" page (pg 11)... "FERRARI IS MUM ON THE NEW MODEL AND OBVIOUSLY NO OFFICIAL PHOTOS HAVE BEEN RELEASED." The article went on to say..."The F430 successor is said to be coming in October, possibly at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Rumor has it that the F450 will be a 4.5 liter 500 hp V8, lighter than the 430 Suderia and the first "green" Ferrari. It may feature an all-wheel drive system and "ground-breaking" adjustable suspension. Some sources say there might be one or two turbochargers...Italy will get the replacement in the fall of 2009, and American buys will have to wait until 2010" http://www.nextautos.com/image/spy-shots/2010-ferrari-f450-mule <---one of SEVERAL websites claiming spy photos (not photoshopped) of the 2010 Ferrari F450 Mule
There have been all types of rumors about Ferrari introducing interchangeable AWD on future cars. Essentially a AWD system that is used for a short amount of time. i.e. when accelerating. Maybe this could be the first Ferrari to have this feature?
I read just recently (one-three days ago) that Ferrari just patented a AWD system. It is therefore likely that it would already appear on the F430 successor.
It wouldn't be the first 4wd Ferrari. There was the experimental 408, of which two seemingly identical, but structurally very different examples were built. Nice vid of it here: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Ferrari-408-the-first-awd_85426.htm
That's really cool! Too bad the "408" never made it into production. I never even knew about it until now, so thanks for posting that video. Just speculating, but I rather hope that the new Ferrari - 450, 500, or whatever it's called - puts some of this technology to use!
If the perspective isn't misleading, it is the end of the steering rack. If it was a drive shaft, it would have to point to the center of the wheel, and not to the end of the lower arm. And if it wasn't the steering rack.. the steering rack would be missing
Here is a picture i took last week of one of the 450 test mules in giallo; on the right rear it says "brake test"; i also saw one driving around in Maranello in red and another one on the Fiorano track. It sounds incredible Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maybe this is a KERS test car . To be green Ferrari is going to go with an AWD, KERS, solar powered electric car made out of cow dung with retreaded F1 tires. LOL.
Don't know if this has been posted yet, but... http://v3.espacenet.com/publicationDetails/biblio?CC=WO&NR=2008139302A1&KC=A1&FT=D&date=20081120&DB=EPODOC&locale=en_EP http://v3.espacenet.com/publicationDetails/biblio?CC=WO&NR=2009019580A2&KC=A2&FT=D&date=20090212&DB=EPODOC&locale=en_EP First link is a patent filed by Ferrari for a twin-turbo system....second link is Ferrari's patent for a hybrid AWD platform. So it seems that the 430 successor may very well be TT, and AWD is definitely in Ferrari's future. As is, a little further down the road, hybrid technology. I know these are just patents, and many patented technologies never reach production, but they seem to fit nicely with the new direction Ferrari is supposedly heading.
I was actually going to post something about the turbo-patent right after I scrolled through this thread. I read about this a day or two ago and am supprised nobody has mentioned it before this last post. Very interesting indeed. Proves many people were right aboput their ideas for the Enzo replacement. I don't think these have anything to do with the F450 though. _J
Ferrari just announced the first actual photo of the 430 replacement. Note the streamlined side mirrors. The vehicle represents the most contemporary use of space with economical driving range. Shown driving the vehicle are Guido D'Arrezzo and his daughter. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nah... That's the GM 2011 model named after their new Chairman, President Obama. The Obamamobile clearly shows two teleprompters in place of the rear view mirrors.
My sources indicate that GM copied that from a recent Ferrari sketch of this vehicle. BTW, the driver is Ferrari's in-house designer. He's obviously proven his abilities with this offering!
new photos for you..... http://www.czechferrari.cz/clanek/ferrari-f142-new-spy-shots-4/13389/ we are closer and closer.....
