Many would not want the 430 in place of a cs but some might and in this small , any dilution in this small scale market will put further downward pressure on pricing. I am not yet convinced that there is a market concept that links the F-430 to the CS in pricing. I believe that these are truly segregated markets, different Buyers, different characteristics sought in their cars. I would be one of these, personally the CS has little allure, ymmv of course. What I am convinced is that, at this moment in time, there exists such a monstrous decline in numbers of F-Car Buyers that the market for the CS is and will decline in price in the traditional over supply - under demand equation. If you toss in the (I will see it then believe it) 142/450 September 2009 delivery potential, then you have a very, very interesting situation.
Then why do you bother "contributing" to the CS threads?! And why don't you fill out your profile? You look like a troll.
relax scott and enjoy your car .... its a down market, he's not lying he's buying. jeffrey's selling so he's pumping. everyone talks their book. i will say... in a year or two, it will be great to be a buyer.
Mostly a true statement except I both buy and sell. Downward pricing on any F-Car has both positive and negative ramifications for me. The trick is in adjusting and not watching the ants as the elephants march by, It serves no purpose for me to lie especially on this forum where I have transacted zero business with any Members and have zero plans to do so. Let' me emphasize the word "transact" as this is true market. Much jib-jab about CS pricing (and 36/43) is educational - assuming you know which posters to listen to and which to ignore - but jib-jab is not market. Consequently, little is accomplished in terms of transaction pressures on this Forum, imo. Including anything I might have to offer. If you view the F-Car world (CS or other) through this forum, then either you are missing a much greater real-life, transaction oriented world or you have chosen to limit your viewpoint. But as the poster said, "he's not lying" and the overwhelming evidence of the transactional world of F-Cars substantiates the truth. I would say it's great to be a Buyer now but if price-performance is your primary rule of thumb, then you are absolutely correct.
woojer bunny -- now that is bafflin' us w BS! well done! you and me and Jeffereee is always sellin' somethin' and kuzi, the top $$$$ man, how r u?? long time. my scud is toast and time to buy another one now they cheap. strads for 230 in march 2008, now scuds the same
Amen to that comment. Asking and selling (hence moving) are two different things. I am have been seeing the same cars for sale for the last few months with only a couple that are gone. They could have been wholesaled also so who knows. There certainly is not shortage of CS's on the market so this is a buyers market not a sellers market. Same with a lot of things right now. Serious about a CS? Start giving serious but low ball offers and I bet you would be pleasently surprised at what reality is.
Funny thing about "cars for sale". How many are really, seriously for sale? In the real estate business, you look at absorption rates; the Absorption Rate is the ability of the real estate market to sell off all of the houses that are for sale. For example, if 10 homes are sold every month and there are 120 homes for sale then it will take 12 months to sell all of those homes. If there are 240 homes for sale then the absorption rate will be 24 months or 2 years. To price a property correctly it would have to be in the lower 50% of the price range for similar properties in order for it to sell in the next 12 months. Ideally, to sell in the next 6 months it would have to be priced in the lower 25% of the competition. Houses that fall outside these ranges may have a "For Sale" sign on them but either the Sellers are fooling themselves or they are fishing for a sucker I believe this scenario holds true for F-Cars. A "For Sale" sign does not a sale make.
Fascinating discussion. Simply put, if the money doesn't matter to you, buy now or keep what you have and enjoy. All cars are depreciating more rapidly than at any other time in recent memory, including CS's and Scud's. They will be worth much less in a year or two. Don't see how you can disagree with that. Best.
My old Ferrari dealer used to say that the price the car will sell at for being on the market for 60 days was the market price of the car. Vehicles that sit with high asking prices for months on end just point out what too high a price is. Those aren't even legitimate asking prices, they are trolling for the uninformed, as stated above. These cars are not really for sale. Somebody who really wants to sell his car will drop the price a few percent every couple weeks until it is sold.
Curious about your source of data. I count only 2 CSs for sale on ebay (vs. around 6 several months ago), and 8 on autotrader.com, and a couple on Ferrariads.com. Didn't check if some of the 'for sales' on different posts were the same, but if they are, then the number for sale is even lower. So, how did you arrive at 31 CSs. Your average price of $167K doesn't look too far off. Tough times prevail, and will continue. I found 200 430s for sale on autotrader.com and another 83 on ebay. That seems like a very hefty number, especially since its well before the new replacement model has its debut.
Thank you Do you do your own research? I'm just using the internet and found 10-15. I would love to start tracking all CS's for sale.
For the most part yes, but also have folks sending me leads/data as well. Plus, I do have some automated processes that trigger alerts when a CS is up for sale.
Keep in mind that DuPont, cars.com, autotrader, etc. do not remove cars when sold, it's the sellers responsibility. With that in mind I wouldn't automatically assume that what you see is still available.
