Hey kids, 81 GTS I pulled the spare out to charge the battery and, Gasp!!!!! the battery cover plate is missing. I'm hoping I can find one, I really don't want to make one as it would look it. Any ideas? Thanks Rob
I have seen them while perusing Ferrari Suppliers.... Try Ricambi...Dan is his name, Pleasure to deal with. Good Luck.
You could also check T. Rutlands, maybe they have a used one. Also in the sponsor link check Maranello Concessionaires/Ferrari UK.
I've had the car just over 3 mo and I never had the spare out, so some time in the past it got legs. I did send an inquiry to T Rut so maybe they will have one. Thanks guys Rob
It's amazing how many 308's have lost battery covers over the years...my brother recently bought a 308, it did had a battery cover....made out of diamond plate! Superleggera it was not, blingy it was. He found a used cover for $160 (private party).... PM me if you want a diamond plate battery cover, shipping will be expensive!
Battery cover? My 308 didn't have one when I bought it; in fact, I didn't know it was supposed to! Aside from originality, is there any particular reason I need one?
Battery explosion would be contained better, if the top blew off your hood paint would be damaged among other things. Also keeps items from falling through to nowhere land. Looks better, looks complete and most importantly its missing.
Try the former owner or the shop that worked on it before. It's probably in a back room with all the others they forgot to put back. One of my customers told me that the shop he used to take his car has bins for each customer where they keep leftover parts. LMAO!
Sounds good enough...I was going to make a few from the one I have, but the thumbwheels and c clip retainers are the hard part... They are available though.....
I cut my replacement from a piece of formica, the kind used for kitchen and bathroom surfaces. The only caveat is in cutting, you really need a formica knife and grinder for the broad round edge to avoid it chipping. It is an ideal material being strong and non-conductive. Above the battery it's too easy for a piece of alluminum to drop onto the terminals when you remove it.
Paul, I suppose that's why manhole-covers are round. 80 Pounds for that small aluminium cover? Wow! How many people need one? That price seems as exhorbitant as the sums asked for the washer bottle bracket.
Mine was also missing, but Daniel sent me a new one for a very reasonable price. I didn't use the correct hold downs, but I will get those from Rock's in Toronto. Image Unavailable, Please Login
