Seems like the original is not available. Anyone know if there's any other cap that will fit? Or post a picture of your cap so I know what it should look like?
Make sure you get the right one. There were two styles. One where the washer bottle is on the underside of the hood and one where it is built into the right fender. I'm not sure that the caps are identical for the two washer reservoires.
Great! I will contact you. Good point! Mine is the one which is built into the right fender, you don't see the bottle, just the top sticking out.
Would you have two for sale? And by any chance, the two noozles? The shop that painted my car has lost them, and I can't find them anywhere ....
I've owe DMaury one if I can locate one to use as a mold pattern. Is this the correct cap? I got it new years ago, but want to make sure before making a mold. If this is NOT the correct one, any chance I could buy or borrow one for a couple of weeks to use as a mold pattern. Would be returned unharmed, but then I could supply them. Verell, please include me in the list if it is the correct one for the 328. I'm not sure either, I don't have it
I tried to get one some time ago. There is an earlier thread. It shows a picture of one attached as it is on the later cars, in the passenger fender. Someone else posted a parts diagram. If someone out there has a cap that fits the later model fender washer reservoire I'd gladly buy it. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204342&highlight=%22washer+cap%22 Here is the link, not sure if it helps to determine which cap Ed or Verell have. Best regards, Dino
Ahh, should have done my homewok, but for some reason was sure I had a 328 cap so didn't bother. According to Ricambi's site the 'early' 328s used the same bottle & cap as the 308 series & F40: 60375706 WASHER / BOTTLE This item is used in the following applications: Vehicle F40 308GTB/GTS 308GTB/GTS 308QV 328 (1985) 328 (1988) 308GTBi/GTSi The photo is from Ricambi's site. I can use the cap from one of my QVs to make the mold. Now, does the side mounted reservoir use the same cap? If not, any chance of borrowing someone's cap for a couple of weeks, either now, or when the car is off of the road next winter? Making a mold from the cap will not harm or mark it in any way. In return for another favor, I promised someone I'd make him a replacement cap for his 328 reservoir. It turns out that he's got the new style reservoir (the one that fits underneath the spare tire surround) with the smaller cap. Unfortunately I haven't been able to locate a cap to use as a pattern for the mold. NEED TO BORROW NEW STYLE RESERVOIR CAP I need to borrow or buy one of the new style caps to make a mold from. This will NOT harm the cap in any way. I'll be happy to return the borrowed cap with an exact reproduction one. Can anyone help me?
I would be happy to help out,i have an 89 328 and can check/take a picture and post it tomorrow when I get home to make sure its the one you need...
Verrell, Here are the pictures as promised, if this is what you need, PM me your mailing info. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Aluminumyellow328 has the correct washer reservoire cap for late 328s with the washer reservoire under the passenger front fender panel.
PM Sent, THANKS!!! Umm, Please send me eMAIL: Verell(at)UnobtainiumSupply(dot)com with appropriate substitutions. with the address to return it to.
Verell, mine looks exactly like Rhett's..I will photograph it & be more than happy to forward to you.
How fortunate (and stupid) can you get? Turns out there's a cap on my bottle... Had a major done three months ago and they obviously found a cap but did not tell me. Thanks for the replies anyway and I hope the ones without cap will have one soon as well.
Rhett, Arrived OK, will start on the mold Monday AM. Probably will take 2 weeks to complete the mold. It's in very good condition so the reproductions will look new also! Verell
