Those are the cats you see on top the red metal are heat shields. The system is going in an upward direction instead of along side the block. On another note the oil filter is a canister type more mainstream(BMW) then the specific to Ferrari filters used on the later engines.(348 and later).
I suspect the pale blue car is the real deal. Typically, this sort of colour is used on crash test cars used to homologate the type before series production starts. I suspect this car has been crash tested and the photos show the aftermath.
Sadly, comparing the blue car with the black one (coming out of trailer), at least the back looks like the real thing.. I hope they make the front different than the ps'ed one. Cause it looks too sharkish and makes the car look wider than necessary imo.
I never said turbos were not good engineering. They are, however, a too-easy way to obtain more power. Anyone can put two turbos on a V6 and have a fast car. But nobody worships Nissan 350Zs. A good engineer will put a bit more thought and contemplation into the horsepower question and come up with a masterpiece (e.g. McLaren F1, F355, S2000). And to the other comments: as if I have no idea what the 288 or F40 are.
Sorry, but turbo-charging is going to become a lot more prevalent as it's an efficient means of creating power and torque. "Too easy", eh? Prepare your disappointment with the future accordingly. I don't think there's any doubt that the latest pictures show an EU crash mule, probably put through front end impact testing. Certainly all of the trim and plumbing is missing but I'm not sure if that's necessary for certification. With the body, powertrain and testing done, we've got to be seeing these on the roads for final tuning VERY soon.
Funny, a wider car is what I'd like to see, as well as a curvier one that the 430. Wider to me looks more exotic, like the Enzo. This one looks like it will be both.
This looks like a V-8 and not a V-12. You can see the 8 cylinder design from top to bottom -the intake/ exhaust/ and ignition wiring are all set-up for two banks of 4 . The gear box is quite a bit wider than the F430 which probably reflects the dual wet clutch design used in the California. Also the pictures suggest it will be using the same direct injection system as the Cali.
