SRT Mike and MattyMouse, knock off the personal attack BS or it's off to the cooler for both of you.

Matty, you're way closer to the line, but I'm not gonna differentiate at this point between you two. Another personal attack from either of ya, and off you go.

Not a chance on this Earth to get this one right in Cliffs notes, but I'll take a shot.

Several folks here know something about this wrecked F50, some know more than others. Some are telling some of what they know, but none are telling all that they know, and some are telling nothing of what they know.

    You know?

I think that gets the gist of it. Those that do know and won't tell are sitting back snickering. Those that don't know but are telling anyway are gonna be eating crow in a few days. And for the vast majority, they neither know nor do they care.

    OK?

What we do know is an F50 is no longer in pristine condition, and that an employee of the FBI took it for a spin, literally.

I hear ya Dave... but what about my crushed ego? I went to go lie down on my (heavily reinforced) bed, and suck down a few boxes of twinkies, and I still can't get over the depression.

What am I to do? :D

This is a good lesson to everyone. You need to do your homework when purchasing cars like this. Jas was lucky to sell the car back to this guy. Where does the law stand if Jas had kept the F50 and the original owner was convicted of a crime? A crime whose proceeds purchased the F50 in the first place. Could the Feds have taken the car from Jas, even though he paid for it in full??

I bet they could if he had not registered the car.

As an aside where did the hardtop come from? if I recall the PA car was in roadster configuration when it was stolen. I always thought the easiest way to find the stolen car would be to see who needed a hardtop and why. Obviously it sounds easier then it really is, but how easy is it to find an F50 hard top can you still buy that part from Ferrari?

The car stolen from Algar may very-well have found itself on a boat to Japan, where stolen property has no 'extradition treaty' with the US. Thus, if the car is indeed found there, the US Govt. has no legal recourse with the Japanese Govt. to recover it and return it to Philly - or so I am told.

Sadly, I don't think Japanese-market cars are even legal for US importation.....I think EPA/DOT tracks VINs more carefully here than in many other countries. You'd be flagged so fast, you'd never get the car out of the shipping container.

Not that I had anything in mind but If I were thinking it wouldn't be Japanese-market cars that I'd be thinking of liberating;)

It would depend on whether he used 8 credit cards or 9 for the transaction :)
