In terms of driving/road feel/handling, and interior quality/comfort? Not asking for things like 0-60 or top speed or Nurburgring times, those I can easily look up. I'm wondering for those of you who've been lucky enough to be in a Ferrari (specify model) and another exotic (e.g. Lamborghini, Porsche GT etc...), how do the car stack up when you ignore the numbers?

I don't know. I'm usually too busy looking at the blonde "dancer" in the passenger seat to notice (and trying to remember her name).

First of all I'm a diehard Ferrari guy with two of my Ferraris being supercars so the comment I'm about to make - for better or for worse - is going to come as a surprise.

My Lamborghini Murcielago - hands down - attracts more females than any of my other cars. There is no comparison. All types of women "oooh and aaahh" and scream at the Murcie. Doesn't happen to the same degree in the other cars.

That's the most amazing looking Murci I have ever seen! To me that encompasses the spirit of the early 80's Countach that blew my mind as a kid.
I was staying at a Hotel in Florence, Italy and a white Countach was parked in the Hotel for 2 days. I was 14 yrs old and it was like standing next to a space ship.....Thanks for sharing........Wow!

i appreciate many aspects of many types of cars. Tho - the feel, drive, and what an Fcar stands for in terms of heritage puts it at the top for me.

Just for the record, Porsches are very fast and beautifully built, but not exotics, especially the SUV and sedan models. Lambos on the other hand are very exotic to look at, very rare (they don't sell a lot), very fast and very german, which is kinda anti exotic. Think Frau Blucher on Extreme Makeover -very beautiful and edgy but still very german under the skin - the horses are still scared, very scared. :)

Not old, maybe just going through your "Elvis phase". Hopeless with names myself, especially female ones.

as for the car question, Lambos have a great presence, pretty much regardless of model or year. A bit uncomfortable to drive, though.

In terms of making an impression while also having superior road feel, performance, I'd have to say Challenge Stradale (though they're not really my style).

This is assuming that we are talking moderns, of course.

I think the difference with all the cars Ive had is that most of them feel like very good, very fast, capable cars, but Ferrari has a sub-conscious feeling of occassion which Astons and others fail to provide. With Ferrari they feel like barely tamed race cars brought to the road, wheras many competitors just feel like the 'top-of the range' faster versions of lesser cars. The exception would, in my opinion, be Lambo, because they look like the real deal, but recent models (Murci to a lesser extent) do feel quite Audi and as such have lost the seat of the pants feel of earlier cars, which I still feel in F-cars (I have a 612 and 430 spider)

I always describe to people who ask - driving the Ferrari, even a mile down the road at 25mph, is an occassion to be savoured, to be surrounded by its heritage and the utterly Italian style and the knowledge that driven well, your heart will hit 180 for a good reason, badly, it will hit it but may also stop!! - Priceless in this 'zero-risk' life we are all supposed to live nowadays

I have owned none but have driven quite a few. I have put quite a few miles on Porsche's (Turbo's and normally asperated) and a few miles on Ferrari's and don't have any experince driving a Lambo so can't comment.

Porsche's are great cars. They can be very fast, handle very well and can be fun. However they are also kind of boring to drive. They can sound fairly decent and all but you can look down at your spedometer thinking you are going 40 and realize you are doing 80.

Ferrari's on the other hand (especially the mid-engine cars) can be a very different story. Lot's of high pitch engine noise and just a very different feel. You can look down out your spedometer expecting to be going 80 and you are actually doing 40. This is a gross exageration but is the best way to explain it. A Ferrari can always bring a smile to your face.

Germans (I can say this because I am a German/Irish/American) tend to be very accurate and very detail orientated and their cars are an extension of this. They work great, sometimes too great and this can actually be very sterile, very boring, very clinical.

The Italians are very passionate. They can take the same metal, leather, etc and put so much passion in them that it takes a life of it's own. A Ferrari's engine screams passion and all the parts work together with passion. It's not in the mind. Matter of fact, it is known that Porsche, Mercede, Honda and Toyota engineers have put many hours behind the wheel of Ferrari's to try to understand how they can replicate the feeling. That alone should tell you something.

Like I mentioned, I have never driven nor even riden in a Lambo. I love some of them, just have never gotten the chance.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks to those of you who complimented my Murcie. I love the car and it definitely turns heads! That being said ... I do have one more thing to add which was touched upon by someone else.

Ferraris are the most passionate car I've ever owned. They have a SOUL. I was a Porsche guy before converting and I even bought one of the first Acura NSXs when they came out in 1991. The NSX did everything well but it lacked soul. The Japanese built a very efficient and effective car but it had no character. Porsches - to a degree - also lacked soul for many years and have only started to show some character in the last five years or so imo.

Ferrari has always had a unique personality. Everything from the quirky gearboxes to a less than perfect fit and finish all contributed to Ferraris being Ferraris. And then there are the engines! Nothing comes close to sounding like a Ferrari. Someone else said that it made you feel like you were going 80 and you were really only going 40. There is some truth to this comment. Ferraris make the right noises and make the driver feel like he's part of the whole. It's an experience that cannot be reproduced by any other car.

In the end the Murcie may attract women but it still isn't a Ferrari! :)

    American: F*** You!!
British: Dignified, Dutiful service to Her Majesty...
German: De lazt, eleuzivve tenth of a tenth of a tenth of a shechend...
    Swiss: Motivation? Trees...happy trees...
    Japanese: BANZAI!!!

Italian: Well, let's put it this way. The most beautiful woman in the world is mad as hell because she has on the wrong shoes, only one earring, she frizzled her hair in the afternoon humidity, and her left shoulder strap won't stay up to save her life. She's running late, and fast as hell, to her date with you.

The best part? If you treat her right, she'll take it all, and I mean all, out on you, after she scarfs down her $150 filet and your half of the wine when she has you halfway out of the car back at her place. I mean, you won't even make it in the front door. ;)

    Make sense?

Most exotics are about the same in terms of performance, but each exotic has an area that they do best.

    For example:

Ferrari - Passion, stunning looks and engine sound.

Porsche - Unbelievable engineering and reliability. Amazing that it has four seats, can get 25 highway and it (997 Turbo) can beat the F430 in all areas of performance.

Lamborghini - Though extremely fast, the one thing they can do that other companies can't is design CRAZY cars.

IMO, the unltimate is to have a Porsche coupe to appriciate the engineering and a Ferrari spider to drive and just enjoy everything.
