Is it possible to have a CS look on a Modena? Buying bumpers, lowering etc. for getting the Stradale look? Will the car perform better than a standard Modena or will it mess up the aerodynamic?? How will it effect resell value? Is it better to buy Stradale. Sorry for the dumb questions :)

Its possible, i did full CS shape conversion. All parts fit. I dont think it affect resale value if you do it right - actually it will raise value imo, however you will always lose money, because no one will pay you what you invest (parts and time). I did it because i enjoy it and if you are not tuning fan, i recommend to buy real CS. I believe aerodynamic is improved but it will be never real CS.......

I like it! ............ IMO a big reason to do something like this ........ would be to get the 'gated' shifter in a great looking package ........... if I were into 'paddles' ..... I would get a real CS ..... and a kayak ....... ;)

start looking, not an easy or cheap thing to do. i am almost done and got a couple freebe' s along the way but still the cost is thru the roof. start with the seats they are only 10,000 dollars on ebay right now. lol just buy a stradale easier and in the end you will be more happy

Feel free to punt me out of the stadium if this is sacrilege, but would the lines of the car line up if one replaced only the front bumper and rocker sills?

need rear bumper or it wont line up. and i am just getting everything painted and fit and the cost ( not cost of the kit) is around 6000.

rims and tires cost you at least 5k if your lucky
ti lugs 1000 if your lucky
    seats 6 to 10 k
bumpers and sides 6 to 10k plus another 6k for paint and install
rear deck lexan window carbon 4k to 8k for everything
    ccb 10k
    carbon fiber mirrors 6k

and thats just kinda half way plus in the end no one is going to give you the cost back when you sell the car. I have saved all my original parts so when i go to get my scud i can put my car back to stock and trade it in and sell all my stradale parts.

Glad I used the "search" function and found this thread. Sounds like by the time you buy a "regular" 360 and pick up all of the parts to make it a Stradale clone, you'd spend about as much as if you were to just buy the car itself and have the genuine article.

    Guys,

    Just believe me on this, forget all the styling/aero improvements for one moment and concentrate on the handling improvements, the car will be transformed in the twisties (really big difference) and your car will feel fantastic on the track. Read this earlier thread i posted on the subject;

The REAL differences between 360 & CS handling
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=269934

Equivalent of a HGTC upgrade for 360
    1. Tires Fit sticky tires such as Michelin Pilot Cup's - improved grip for better traction.
    2. Rollbars Fit uprated rear anti-rollbar (hollow and 20% uprated) - resists pitch and roll far more,
    3. Bushes Fit uprated bushes, either delrin or poly bushes - improved handling characteristics
    4. Springs Fit updated springs, (ideally also Moton 3-way adjustibles) - improved suspension control
    5. Geometry & Ride height Use geometry and ride height settings from Stradale.
    6. ECU Fit suspension ecu from strad (or just its software) - its uprated in stiffness control.

After doing all of this the car will still look stock but handling will have totally transformed. Fit the aero bits later on once you've got the fundamentals right.

One other big improvement is to consider fitting the 360 Challenge steering rack, it has less turns lock to lock and feels utterly fantastic, very fast and transforms the car's turn-in and feedback. I always felt the 360's steering felt a little 'glassy' and always attributed it to over assisted rack, its not, fit the Challenge rack and be amazed!

Just concentrating 100% the 'look' of a CS seems to miss the point, I guess its no different than fitting the GT3 bodykit & wheels onto a regular Porsche or going for the widebody without the turbo which many people spec up on their cars from new.

While I believe the cosmetical improvements where worthy, yes the CS looks so much better to me than a stock Modena, dig a little deeper and drive a CS and you'll discover the differences in handling, the feeling of a 'raw' racer, the 'sound' all contribute to what makes the car so special. They are a world apart and a bodykit & wheels alone won't do that for you.

I'd wager Ferrari where planning originally to do a HGTC upgrade package for the 360 but then the marketing dept. read about other marques using 'special editions' to sell 'run off models' before the next car and decided it would be a good thing to do a special car. One thing led to another and before you knew it we had the CS.

I did all the exterior conversion except the engine bonete lid. The cars looks great but it will never be a real CS. For my taste I love it and I'm very happy with it. What I like the most are the carbon fiber mirrors, that is what give the car the nice look. IMO.

I think that is a great job on the conversion for masar's car. Awesome look and a beautiful car. That being said, I would still purchase a CS instead of doing a conversion. IMHO of course.

Looks like a good conversion, not the best around but certainly close enough for most people except the most 'hardcore' cs spottters :)

Here's the differences I could see in 'spot the difference' competition (do I win a prize?)...

    1. 360GT carbon mirrors look similar to the untrained eye
    2. Rear challenge grille is different on CS (lightweight Aluminum vs Steel with larger holes on CS)
    3. Missing Carbon Brakes, small steel's & capliers
    4. Missing Titanium wheel nuts, regular modena lug nuts.
    5. Rear window is still glass, not plexiglass. Missing hex nuts.
    6. Rear centre CS challenge for gearbox cooler different on Modena
    7. Missing Pininfarina badges on skirts
    8. Missing Rear 'Challenge Stradale' badge
    9. Ride height isn't to CS spec, rear should be higher than front
    10. No carbon door panels, easy to see from outside
    11. No cs steering wheel, no center color ring
    12. Can see the seats are Sparco Milano's (relatively heavy) not original lightweight CS ones.

One thing I'd definately recommend is respraying the side skirts again and this time fitting the plastic paint protection (standard on stock) which stops stone chips going back to primer...

Unless one really enjoys the tuning process, or really can't stand the F1 box, I think it would be a lot easier and maybe even cheaper to buy a CS, than to convert a Modena. Especially considering how much Strad prices have gone down and if one were to use OEM parts (which are ridiculously pricey). Rebuilding a 360 spider with CS parts however is something I've pondered. The ones I've seen look so much better than the factory 360 spider and even the 430 spider (imo). I even like the way it looks, better than the 16M. However, to put in carbon bits and racing seats, and to rip out insulation would be taking it too far for me. I would do wheels and suspension, side mirrors, front and rear bumpers, rockers and call it a day. No stripe and absolutely no re badging.

If you just want the CS look and don't want to spend a lot of money, have a look on our site. :)
With the combination of the Mille Miglia exhaust, 19" wheels, P Zero Corsas and Rear Diffusers, you will get a noticeable improvement in performance and handling, the Stripe just makes it look faster. :D
    Ciao
