I've added more pictures of Islero #6432 (Roger Moore movie car) to the online gallery: http://gallery.me.com/zerog_samples#100122 And the gallery of still frames from the movie is still live: http://gallery.me.com/zerog_samples#100125 Regards, Ed.S.
The description you make applies spot on to my case!!! By the way, your car is absolutely stunning. The level of detailing is amazing, surely much better than when it left Marazzi's workshop. All the best, Ed.
Can someone tell me where (worldwide) I can buy a brand new set of coilover suspension Amstrong for an Islero ??? Or any other brand that can reproduce the OEM suspension ??? I'll keep my original ones to be restored in racing configuration for track use and the second set will be for road & rally use. Thanks in advance. Nice Armstrong shocks. I understand they cannot be rebuilt and are not available (at least for the Miura's I understand, but I could be wrong). I believe Koni's (which are rebuildable) were used when Armstrong's where phased out, so that's probably your solution. I'm talking a bit out of turn because although I would love to have a Islero, I don't and I do not know the car as well as the Miura.
Here's what were already fitted to my Islero when I purchased the car: http://www.intraxracing.nl/?cat=productdetail&prodid=89&title=Islero_schokdempers_1K2&lang=EN Download the instruction sheet here: http://www.intraxracing.nl/download.php?type=manual&pid=89&lid=en They seem to be excellent, though to be fair I haven't had the car long enough to fully evaluate them. The ride is pretty firm at the moment - I must try adjusting them to a softer setting... Rgds, Ed.S. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Ed. Here's a couple of nice photos of the car on the move: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
WOW!!! Did you take those pictures during the Classic & Sportscar photoshoot? Btw the article about your car was really nice (they also spoke a little word about mine in this issue, I was happy!).
It was that article in the July 2008 issue of Classic & Sportscar that revealed to me that the movie car still existed and I was 'gobsmacked' as I had always loved it from seeing the film. Yes it was a REALLY well written article and you could really feel that the author Martin Buckley had a great love of cars from that era and had found a kind of 'nirvana' with this car. He really captured my imagination and made me dream of owning it, though of course I never thought I would get a chance to! Yes those photos are from the photoshoot - I contacted the photographer who very kindly let me have them (the number plate was different then - but I used Photoshop. Naughty, but I couldn't resist it....). Yes I noticed they mentioned your car. You have another unique car, being from the Lamborghini family ownership makes it very, very special.
Ed, These pics are awesome...so nice balance moving icon of late 60's...and to say I need to wait close to 9 months by now to get mine fixed...
Wonderful product, they look like MOTON that I was using on my 996 GT2, execpted that here they are coilover for Lambo purposes, as well as for Jarama, Espada and all front engine V12 Lambo... Hummm...may be I will put one on my Jarama too... Ed, thanks a lot for that recommendation !!!
Last saturday, I had my first ride in an Islero GTS #6402, smooth engine, slow gearbox (slower than in my Jarama), nice driving car, not a big thrill...was driven like a "grandma" at max 5.200 rpm...it was set up with Intrax coilover suspension that I plan to fit on both my Islero and Jarama... Hi, I just found this very interesting video featuring an Islero and an Aston Martin Vantage supercharged. The footage is very short and I think it is part of a longer stuff. Does anybody have a better link? http://fr.truveo.com/m6-turbo-islero-400-gts-vs-vantage-supercharged/id/459257165

Joe, Nice color for an Islero! What color will be interior? Philippe M. S2 7987 www.lamborghinimiura.com
The car should be finished any year now. . While I'm not in a rush to get it back, (missed the Islero 40th Anniv. last year) it will probably be out of the body shop by Sept. The interior is ready to go back in, that can be done in a few hours. I need to find few items for it, (new sunvisors, door marker lights etc). Not sure if I will show it anywhere this year, may just wait until Pocono next year for the Lamborghini Owners Club National Meet. Joe Here is a photo of the leather color with carpets and a panel painted in the extior color. Image Unavailable, Please Login
#6243 is far more advanced compare to #6009 that is still on the good way to respect the time scheduled... new pics next time... I also loved that color combination, someone spoke about "Luca di Bosco" chart color...instead of "Bronzo mett." or may it was on VLG forum ???
Ed, Monday I was at the factory and I've asked about the Lambo OEM hexagonal central nut that was fitted for specific market... I was thinking about you, but also for future Le Mans race...changing a wheel is easier with hexagonal nut... Here are the OEM references : Sinistra/left side ; front & rear #005107164 Destra/right side ; front & rear #005107165 tool #005107166 better than this is you can't get... Ciao
Hi Olivier, Hi everyone! Eventually I've got it! My car passed the swiss technical examination today!!! As a starter, we decided to visit the new Porsche Museum together with a friend of mine with the Islero: 408 km of pure joy!!! This car is really thrilling, what a joy to drive! The car feels really solid, nothing rattles, the ride is superb... I was accustomed to early 911 that don't feel so solid on motorways and to early Maseratis that are so much heavier to drive. That's a revelation. I really LOVE this car! I have to break in the motor, so we were restricted to 3'500/4'000 rpm, however, we really felt the torque and power on german autobahns. Here are a few photos of our trip. More to come tomorrow, when we go to the museum. Wel'll be greeted by a friend of mine who works for Porsche, that'll surely be nice! And if we look closely, the two brands are very close nowadays! Porsches buys VW (or vice a versa, I don't know for sure!) who owns Audi, who owns Lamborghini... Cousins by now... I have to thank Stephen for his invaluable help for finding the octagonal nuts... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Best regards to all, Ed.
