Hello, Although this car is hard to place within any sub forum, this one might be the best. I am sourcing a 333-SP, preferably in Europe (EU). Please PM me if you have/know one available. It is for my own collection and I want to use it myself. I know the Monaco auction car and will visit the US in 2 weeks. Any help or info is welcome. For obvious reasons I used a new account. regards
I assume that you are referring to your new Nigerian bank account? If so, I have the PERFECT car for you, please just wire $20,000,000,000,000 to my Swiss account, and the car is yours.
Off subject (kind of) but I saw one this weekend in a private collection. I am not allowed to post photos though per the owners request. The story is it has never been driven. Nearly got to ride in an F40 but time did not allow. I have doubts whether or not I can even fit. Just felt like sharing the 333 story. What i would do for one of those. Coolest Ferrari ever built.
Was this car yellow? I remember hearing that a yellow one was never driven, just wondering if it is the same car. Feel free to PM me if you prefer. Erik
I am 6'6"...my normal weight is 235-245...but I haven't been working out lately so I dipped down to 220. Height is the limiting factor. Losing weight helps some but height is the main issue. As far as driving it goes...not a chance. I can squeeze in the passenger seat with my knees to my chest. I can't fit into a gallardo coupe either. Pictures I can show: from what I was told, 1 of 2 street legal 911 GT1s I also saw a white carerra GT, 40+ other porsches, some vintage Ferrari's, a Bugatti EB110, etc. etc. etc. And the 333SP was red. You can seem my blurry ghost in the background..white shirt one more:
There are a few of the 40-odd 333s that were never raced, and a few of them have never really even been driven. Some are as they left the factory and have never been shaken down, sorted or tested. Basically, brand new, nearly 10-year old cars. De-mothballing a car can be EXPENSIVE. While I know where many of the US cars are, I know of none that are currently being offered. However, deals come along on occasion. Prices have not dipped. I'm waiting for the distressed sale to pass by, and I'm ready to go. CW
Drivers side footwell is deeper than passenger. 6'-6'' is the upper limit, but is possible. Roland Linder is 6-4 IIRC and fit with a helmet.
Next time I see it I will ask if I can try to squeeze in. I remember the gallardo spyder was miserable. Coupe with a helmet was literally impossible.
The story was the previous owner had it put together out of parts..all new. I wouldn't want to know how much it would cost to get it running safely. You wouldn't want a McLaren incident!
Thanks for the clarification and for not calling me back last night! I'll catch up with you later today. Erik
I've been to see that collection before and it is stunning. Not everything in there is owned by the same person. I heard the same thing about the 333SP having no miles. I inquired why this one had never been driven and the response was that the owner has ANOTHER 333SP that he does drive.
The 911 GT1 is an uber rare 993 GT1 strassenversion. Already street legal in Germany, it was imported and put through EPA/ Texas DOT, and has the said sticker of approval after approx. 1 year of testing. The red 993 GT1 Strassenversion is supposedly owned by Gates. There are a few other 996 GT1 strassenversion's in the US; however, while they are driven on the street, they apparently are not US DOT legal. While the interior has leather, it has no air conditioning.
How are the seats mounted in an F40? Mounting the actual seat on the floor (no runners) will clear a huge amount of space. A smaller steering wheel + spacer (could get a snap off spacer thing) will create a lot of space also. I'm 6'9'' myself so I know fitting in pretty much any car is a pain...
I was told that there is a guy who is 6'5", and apparently had his F40 shipped to England to have part of the rear wall removed, and he still couldn't drive it when he got it back. This is 100% hearsay though. I also don't know if he was "husky" or not. lol There did appear to be quite a bit of room to work with though...more than I would have thought And to BBS. That is correct. 90% of the cars are his. The rest are on consignment. And also correct about the 333SP. He has two, one he drives, and the other that sits and collects drool
I saw one of the 2 993 GT1 prototypes in England. It was a very cool car and one of my "Top 10" cars The 996 GT1 can now be imported under Show & Display. I believe there are more than a handful over here now and i have seen pictures of most of them being imported. The same goes for the CLK-GTR. The list of eligible cars can be found here: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/CARS/RULES/IMPORT/sdlist040109.pdf There was at least 1 GT1 (and 1 CLK-GTR) in the U.S. before this list was ammended to add them. I'm not sure what happened to them and whether or not they are still here
First of all, please do understand I am a classic car collector and post quite often in the vintage forum, and thus easy to track names etc. I am interested in a 333-SP as the car is all I want in a modern racer. Exclusive, fast, beautiful and with a lot of sound...... An euro car is interesting as taxes are lower, but the USD is very friendly to us so both are interesting to me........ kind regards, 333-SP
Which vintage forum? According to your profile you've registered here within the past 9 days and have only posted in this thread. Do you mean another forum? Good luck with the search. The 333SP that was built from spare parts (well, one of them) was for sale a few years back but i haven't heard of any being on the market recently
Probably a BS story. Clarkson is 6'5'' and he fits, and there's a dutch car reporter who is 6'6'' and he drove one for a while...He's quite long in the legs.
