    Hi,

Im planning to go to BKK in less than a month... which hotel is better in terms of location and room ? Swissotel Nai Lert Park or Intercontinental ? I understand both are near chitlom BTS but I don't like walk far (from swissotel it looks much further).
I don't wanna visit tourist attractions either.. mainly shopping :)

Both hotels rooms look nice.. that is why I'm undecided... or is there any other area other than Pratunam ??

    Your advice is highly appreciated

The only joints you need to chill at in Bangkok is UTOPIA and Blk/Wht Club!!!!!!

Intercont is closer to BTS & shoppping complex. Swissotel is more private, and not too far either. Rajdamri & Chidlom are nice shopping area. Pratunam is a paradise for wholesale and bargaining goods.

All are few blocks apart, you could easily walk thru.

    Hope this helps,

If you decide on the Swissotel suggest you have them confirm the wardrobe has been serviced.

Several European powerhouses are @ SiamParagon and Gaysorn plaza. Both are in the area.

I have stayed at quite a few hotels in Bangkok.
=== Grand Hyatt is grand, but it's old old POS, avoid it, great location though, right by Erawan.
=== Mandarin Oriental, classic, old school charm, but its a trip to downtown, around 80 bhat by meter taxi. If you plan to chill by river and hang by the pool, its great, if you gonna be in downtown often, not good.
=== Banyan Tree, SICK spa, accommodation sub-par, the suites have small bedrooms. Most taxi drivers do not know where it is.
=== Conrad, its ok, good club lounge, cheap hotel chauffeur S class, decent rooms, get a corner club room or above and you are set. It's a very short walk to BTS.
=== JWM, decent location, old hotel with renovated furnishing, good b-fest buffet.
=== InterContinental, newly renovated, when I stayed there this Feburary, work is not completely finished so there is noise, and you have to go to Holiday Inn next door for b-fest, location is decent, close to BTS. The regular room is SMALL so get a corner suite.

If I go to Bangkok now I most likely will pick InterContinental again.
Taxi is very cheap, if the guy is willing to take you and use meter. Getting one at hotel is no problem, getting one by MBK might be. I personally rather use Taxi than BTS, unless I am in a rush and traffic is horrible on daily basis.

    I prefer the Marriott Mayfair;

halfway between Lumpini and the Rot Fai Fa, across from PanPan Italian and supremely great service. Last time they they upgraded me to an end hall suite and that did make an impression!

Better than roping your n*ts up in the closet! ahem...

Blue, when are you coming in? I am here and would love to meet you. If you are into the shopping at the fine stores, it will be hard to beat the Intercontinental, esp with it's foot bridge to the BTS. What else would you like to do?
