Hello everyone, glad to be here on this forum. I just purchased a 1995 Ferrari 456 with 27k miles, well cared for in the past with all services done.

I think I will go ahead and have the 30k service done at this time. I was hoping to have your feedback and advice on what else I should have done while the car is in the shop.

Here is a list of things I had in mind:
    1. 30k Service
    2. Replace all belts (what are all the belts I should purchase?)
    3. Flush cooling system
    4. Possibly replace all hoses for cooling system???
    5. Possibly replace fuel hoses???
    6. Check motor mounts and replace as needed???

Is there anything that I am leaving off? (Brakes and tires have 80% left)

Also, where is a good place to purchase the above items. Where have you found the best prices as well as acceptable quality?

I would appreciate any and all advice you have for me and look forward to being a part of this forum!

    Alex

I think it's good practice to change the rubber brake lines every 10 years (so they'd be overdue if the car still has the original ones).

This source is one of the best for parts:

You should check the records, if you have them, and see if the 30k service and belts have already been done. Few modern Ferraris make it to the mileage intervals, so belts and services are often done on a calendar basis instead.

If it's an auto, check when the transmission oil and filters have been done. It's not cheap so it might have been skimped on. Check that the later level hoses have been fitted under the inlet manifold (you should have receipts for this) and get this done if there's no evidence of it. The shop you choose to do this work should provide you with the parts, but if not there are many sponsors of this site who will be able to provide you with the parts you require.

I don't know if the 456 is notorious for this, but begin to tackle the sticky interior pieces as they will only grow worse if signs of this have begun to reveal.

I also flushed and changed my brake fluid and transaxle (GT). The technician said the brake fluid in the rear brakes was barely flowing and was gelling and the transaxle really needed it. I'm now on an annual flush/change schedule for radiator, brakes, transaxle, power steering, etc, etc. Cheap maintenance or piece of mind. I also treated every tank with a gas treatment/fuel injection cleaner for the first 3-4 tanks. I'm starting to smell fuel so I think I'll have to check that out too-

    Congrats-

Did you perform a compression test? If the #'s are low then I would consider replacing the valve guides WHILE your doing the 30k/belt service since theres good overlap.

If no one else has mentioned it, check the motormounts and the shock actuators.

Biggest thing is find a place you trust to work on it, unless you are really diligent, concientious and have a lift. I use an independent Jaguar/Rover shop. There are a lot of similarities in the systems.

Check the motor mounts, make sure the engine is not resting on the steering rack. Use late 550 mounts as replacements.

Every 3 years on the belts. Check when yours were done.

Make sure all hoses are silicone. Running change after 2000.

Then, the best maintenance for these things is driving them.

I've used Algar in Pennsylvania for over 20 years, good service, price and inventory.

Don't forget to replace the tensioners/bearings when you do the timing belts.
