Hi Mike, There were a number of Alpine poster cars, his QV is one of them. The poster you're referring to in the video is a 79' updated with 80-82 wheels. The owner is very astute and knew what he was buying. Tony
Great pics and I think your son would be a great musician and racer for he knows the best music in the world ..... the sound of the exotic engine ...
Worth watching again, yes indeed. But were is the post from you we all are waiting for? ;-) I thought the parcel from Eurospares arrived? ;-)
Here is an intresting car that seems to be #1120050 according to the ILR. Still sleeping in a barn in Sweden? The two dots at the headlights are headlightswasher, required in Sweden at those days. http://lambo.dk/cars/countach/lp400/lp4001.htm The wing is claimed to be an original from factory, maybe our wingman Emilio can enlighten us? http://lambo.dk/cars/countach/lp400/lp4002.htm The pics are copyright by Michael Pedersen. The pic of the Diablo is taken by me in the mid 90`s, this car seems to have the same bull sticker as the LP400. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Its possible it is a wing purchased from the factory. But it is not the first wing fitted on a Countach by the factory. The first tail wing mounted by the works was on Walter Wolf's 1120148 in the fall of 1975. Even earlier than that, he had a roof aerofoil fitted to 1120006 in the spring of 1974.
The inspiration for putting a wing on a Countach came from his involvement and ownership of Formula One Teams... Image Unavailable, Please Login
1121002's livery was the same dark blue with gold accents as his Formula One cars had... shown here at Geneva in 1978 minus the wing! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Please keep the LP400S love coming, joe. These are great pics. I won't ever get tired of seeing more.
In one of our conversations he mentioned that the mirrors he had on 1120202 were the same gold-plated units he transferred to 1121002 (below). This makes sense because 1120202 got retro-fitted with different mirrors after Walter gave it up and the factory refurbished it. Obviously in the shot above where 1121002 sports the MZ plate (Mainz, Germany), somebody had stolen one of the mirrors! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Also in this image note the 'short shifter' and the steering wheel right out of his WR F1 car... Image Unavailable, Please Login
30 years ago at Long Beach F1 GP... anyone who drives a post-LP400 Countach can thank this man for the parallel-linked suspension, the Pirelli P7 technology tires, the development of which he personally paid for. Thank you Walter. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Does anyone (Joe, Tony, etc.) know how many factory LP400s cars were made with a periscope roof? I know there are some converted LP400's out there but I'm interested in the number of cars that left the factory as an S model with the roof.
Nowadays. His best friend is Bernie Ecclestone from the days when Berni ran the rival Alfa team. Here he is recently (left) with Ron Dennis and World Formula One Driving Champion Lewis Hamilton. Another image with his lady. Last we spoke he had 2 Lamborghinis and 2 Ferraris. Very enthusiastic guy, not hard to see why he is super-successful at whatever he does. Any LP400S that left the factory with a Periscopa roof did so because the factory simply used an LP400 as the donor. I will have to check on this but off the top of my head there is 1121030 for example. The Wolf cars (1120148 & 1120202), the Silveira car (1120222) and the Spazzapan car in the San Diego Museum dont really count 'cos they are really LP400 Speciales...
