Dr. Stu, Do you have any information on what the modifications by Colli were supposed to be/may have been?
    Best,

003S would be the 1948 MM winning Allemano bodied coupe that also ran the Targa!

I found the photo of what is supposed to be the same car, partially rebodied by Colli here!!?? :
    http://www.coachbuild.com/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=50&g2_itemId=24551

The photos posted here are of the car with the Allemano body, and after it crashed and damaged the nose. I had never seen a photo of the Colli "modified" car before...it's obviously a Ferrari by the nose badge in post #1, but I have no idea if it is really 003S! If not, what is it??

    QV500 says 003S was scrapped in 1958??
"However, neither 001 S or 003 S exist today, both having been destroyed and junked in 1951 and '58 respectively".

The car still has its "126799 MI" plates and the windscreen and roof seem similar. That must be 003S...

    Great find !

These photos come from the 1987 book "La Ferrari alla Mille Miglia" by Gianni Marzotto. The damage with 003S occurred during a road accident without serious injuries to the people involved. The car was subsequently rebuilt by Carrozzeria Colli of Milan where the front end was redesigned.

Does the Colli car still exist, hidden somewhere? I like it alot, except for the Frua style grille!

They had seen the Cisitalia 202 before doing this body.

It looks like a cross between a Cisitalia 202, something by Stab.Farina, but with a Frua style nose (the only part of the car I don't like)

Besides the entire front end, you can see the side panels were modified as well. Wings are different containing three 'portholes' and the rear wheel arch is rounded instead of square-ish.

Thanks for your quick reply. The darkish "color" of this b/w picture made me classify it as a 1948 picture, i.e. before the repaint to grey/silver as in the "611" Sicilia pictures of 1949. But, when counting the "bars" in the grille to 7, it corresponds to the "sicilian" count. Perhaps it changed color back to something dark after Sicilia.

(sorry, the silver "611" was not on Sicilia, but it was 1949, my mistake)
