I forgot the race was this weekend! D'oh! In looking at the results, I noticed the lone Murcielago entry from JLOC made it one lap before retiring. 24 hour race and the car goes one lap? http://www.crash.net/le+mans/News/148258/1/jloc_lodges_first_retirement.html Mike
Ya know, after the sponsor backed away from the Spartak car and left Cox and Rusinov scrambling to get rides for Le Mans I was looking forward to being able to root for the one remaining Lamborghini Murcielago, the JLOC. I admit that I don't know the whole story, but after seeing what I can only term as a huge fiasco I agree with John Hindaugh of Radio Le Mans that the ACO should have never even considered this group for a slot in the great race. I've seen amateurs put on a much better effort than this (if I offend anyone in the Japanese Lamborghini Owners Club, good!). If you don't know how to properly prepare for a world class race like this, then do those of us who love Lamborghini a favor and DON'T BOTHER SHOWING UP!!!!! In fact, they should have bowed out a few weeks ago in order to give another group on the reserve list who really wants to be there and knows how to prepare for it a chance to compete. As it stands this group has disgraced the name of Lamborghini in my opinion. And in my opinion this car should NEVER be offered up for sale as having raced at Le Mans! I think the only dignified end to this whole episode would be to completely dismantle the car and use it for parts. Gary
http://www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans/pages/chronos_gb.html Peugeot diesels 1st & 2nd... Audi diesel 6 laps behind. Ferraris dominated GT2.
A harsh comment that is totally spot on and maybe even a little soft given the importance of the race. The Lambo team did no one any favours and was a total waste of effort, money and most importantly a starting spot for a more deserving team.
Hans Reiter offered them to use his well prepared race-car when he saw the car the JLOC had there, but they didn't want to use it, perhaps the known fact that asians don't want to loose their face, but the disaster which happened this weekend is much worse, shows the best sign of huge incompetence. No comparison how the Reiter-prepared Gallardos run in the ADAC GT trophy and as GT2 cars.
How the hell does the team keep getting invites back to Le Mans after embarrassing themselves every June?
As long as they keep bringing Benjamin every june they can keep coming back and failing as much as they want.
