here's what i did... in Belgium you can buy numberplate stickers (to put on garages). They are not legal, but I haven't had any problems. Easy, cheap and no holes in the bumpers... ;-)

Brian, Have to agree with you on this, haven't had a front plate in over 20 years of Ferrari ownership and never been stopped. Of course the places I have lived(not many Fcars) they knew who I was anyway.

Got a fix it ticket from a LAPD who was harrassing people in Hollywood on a Fri night. I put the plate on by purchasing 2 long anchor bolts from H Depot and running it through the grill. When I took it to CHiP, he laughed and signed it off. Removed it when I got home and all is well in the world. Good luck.

I have what I believe to be the original front mounting kit. I will post pix later when I get home.

Yes, it's original. My GTB came with that bracket, never mounted, in the trunk.

Just yesterday, I was in middle lane on freeway, Highway patrol was in the right lane. I see him--I was
going exactly 65, not a hair over. He gets behind me and follows for awhile, then drops back.

Then passes me on the left, and gets back in my lane. Then goes to right lane, drops back, follows me,
    and then HITS THE LIGHTS!

So I am thinking... what the hell is this... I'm not speeding, etc. He pulls me over and then proceeds
to tell me that I do not have a front plate and that it is against the law.

I felt like he was baiting me. I told him there is no place to put the front plate on the car--he went
to the front and looked around. He asked if I had the plate in the car and I said no, I had it at home,
but if I couldn't put the plate on the car, what good did it do to just have it inside the car?

He takes my license and registration and I figure that I will get a ticket. After 10 minutes, he comes
back and tells me that he's not going to ticket me, and if he sees me again he won't ticket me.

I don't think he had any particular interest in seeing the car. So if he wasn't going to ticket me,
why did he pull me over ????????? It was strange.

I guess maybe I will keep the front plate in the car. Seems like that would have made a difference.

I was wondering what the heck that was laying around the back of my trunk. Almost tossed it a hundred times.

I have antique plates on my Ferraris. Here in Texas, only rear antique plates are required. And there's no emissions testing AND the car only has to be re-registered every 5 years or so. The only down side is that the antique plate is butt-ugly.

    Mine is like Jim's above.
it can be seen [post=135839713]here[/post] in a similiar thread.
There are two long sheet metal screws that go up into the bumper.

When on a drive & heading through the various tunnels/bridges in the tri-state, my buddies get pulled over, but they leave me alone.
Not having one is yet another reason for the police to pull you over.

BTW: Mine came from the dealer with the bracket on.

    Clarification, please...

    http://rts.texasonline.state.tx.us/NASApp/txdotrts/SpecialPlateOrderServlet?grpid=10&pltid=1

The above site specifically states that 'Antique' plated cars are -not- to be used for normal transportation,
just to/from car shows, exhibits, etc.

There -is- a 'Classic Auto' classification listed there that says those cars can be used for normal transportation.

Neither description says anything about rear only. The Antique description mentions 5 year terms.

So, are you, in fact, using Antique plates and driving when/where you shouldn't be ????

I have antique plates on the Mondial QV and the 308GTB, and I drive the cars only casually - and sometimes to a car show. Only one plate was issued per car.

Ok, thx for the update. The website states/implies(my interpretation) that driving on public roads is not
allowed, other than for to/from shows, etc. Therefore, Friday night cruise to the pub would be illegal.

Probably not gonna get caught, so may not matter much.
