Judging by the high bidder I would say it's legit...

I think its an authentic printed signature as the auction states.

A printed signature is not a real handsigned signiture. Its a printout often done by a special signature printer.

It's hard to see the color of the pen. I believe (told) Enzo always signed using a purple pen. It was his favorite color.

 

I actually know this seller and have done business with him before. I would have to say he is a highly respectable seller and the item he has for sale is authentic.

Just read the description!! No need to guess. It says PRINTED signature !!

In several brochures from the same period the signature of mr. Ferrari was printed on pag 3.
All in the same color ink.

mr. Tron is a very reliable ebayer, and very knowledgable about models and literature made by the factory. If he sold an original, it was clearly visible in the discription, and price.

 

he started using only it later than in 1975

Just wondered where you got this from? I think it is wrong. I have a letter on Ferrari headed paper dated 14 Febbraio 1957 which is signed in purple.

I have over 65 original signed Enzo items - he pretty much always signed in violet ink. And of course the ebay item is 'printed' as per the description and the selling price. Real sigs from reputable sources start at US$400.

Out of interest - what is the oldest signed Enzo Ferrari item that you have that is signed in violet ink, and have you ever seen any genuine Enzo autographs in any other colour?

the 1st pic. in my previous post is from January 14 1953 and the sign is violet
so I think he always used that color ?????

 

My earliest signature is from 1950 and is violet.
I have seen one sig of his from the 1930s although I could not guarantee it's authenticity - it was in blue pen.

I have the Enzo custom made suit in my hands now......worn in the 1970s and documented by his tailor :-0

 

I own a letter from May 1949 that Enzo sent to Jerry Englebert about what tires to use for Chinetti's car in the first race. It has a perfect purple signature, and a typographical correction by Enzo in the purple ink!! It is still the oldest Enzo signature that I have ever physically seen. I have always wondered what it is worth!?

I have a picyure he sent me in the 60's. he used to sign with a purple flair pen and the signature is almost gone, and I have never had it in the sun. I have seen some guys who have letters about thier cars and the signature is gone!! Luckily I have another picture he sent me right before his death. The stuff he sent me personally I prize above all my possesions!

Sorry to bring up an ancient thread, but I was reviewing this one and saw this about the purple being used post 1975. Here's an example from 1972 .....

The purple ink was exclusive to Enzo and was not used by the other office people.
Some of the later years signatures were not always original but if original they would show a tremor especially in his last years.

That's an interesting statement. As a collector of Enzo autographs I would like to know how you can prove that statement?
If they weren't original then what were they? Forged or rubber stamp? And how can you tell the difference? Thanks,
