From SpeedTV and Reuters: Bernie Ecclestone has called for calm as the row between eight of Formula One's existing teams and the governing FIA widened in the wake of the publication of the 2010 entry list. Italy's La Repubblica said Ferrari and the Red Bull teams' inclusion on the official list against their will was a "provocation", leading more of the world's car manufacturers to "declare war on Mosley". The newspaper was referring to the statement issued by ACEA, an association of European carmakers, following a meeting in Brussels. Comprised of manufacturers including Ford, GM, Porsche, Peugeot, Volvo and Volkswagen, ACEA fully backed FOTA by insisting that F1's "current governance system cannot continue". Another Italianpublication, Corriere dello Sport, agreed that the mood of the dispute has now moved to "calling for Mosley's head". Britain's The Times interpreted FOTA's attempt to bypass Mosley and appeal directly to the World Motor Sport Council as "further evidence that the manufacturers have had enough of Mosley and want him to be removed or restrained". Ecclestone, chief executive of the presently war-trodden sport, said: "I would just ask everyone, instead of throwing mud at each other in public or behind each other's backs, to just be quiet and let things settle down a bit."
I always thought that was: "Blessed are the pizza makers." Bernie could end this fight with three words: "Max, go swivel".
IMO, If Bernie would have spoken those three words a few years ago F1 wouldn't be in the sad state it's in now.
Oh gawd... Bernie is the most transparent of all! So now he's the reconciler? Wasn't this the same Bernie who said F1 doesn't need Ferrari, called Luca various names, threatened to sue, threatened to sue other teams if they broke contracts, played the bad cop, then the good cop, now the man in the middle? What a toad. Just a self serving toad. A businessman for sure, but they (MadBern) are trying everything under the sun to get their way. Later this week we'll hear another tantrum from Bernie directed at.... oh, who knows... Brawn perhaps or maybe Toyota or maybe Renault.
Yes, and I'm off to the stoning. Max is finally going to get it oh and remember, "Always look on the bright side of life."
+1 He almost sounds desparate this time. Which is a good sign for FOTA. They should push through, no mercy for Max or Bernie.
IMO no one is going after Bernie at this point. He still makes everyone too much money. If FOTA does prevail they will have better leverage in dealing with FOM though.
Bernie Napolean I think is realizing that this is for real. He needs to look on the bright side of all this. At least it might be a pretty train that runs his azz over.
