1978? Looks like you have some parts laying around your garage. Do you have everything? If you contact Newman on this site, he may offer some insight as to what you are in for (since he completed a fantastic 308 project as well). It's always good to see a Ferrari getting TLC after abuse. Good luck with everything. You have a nice garage, too. It would be nice to post pictures of this project from start to finish, but fair warning - you may not be finished after the long weekend coming up (even if you get up early Sat morn).
Very Nice, That 308 is Going to look awesome when your done. It's going to fit right in with those Ducs, love em. Had one myself once.
Yes 1978 308 GTS # 25499 pro date 9/78 It appears to be complete as I was told it was. The car was disassembeld for painting around 1991. It got a decent respray that I'm guessing will look ok under all the dust for a driver/weekend car. I have a friend/mechanic coming over in a bit to go over it with me and determine the best course of action. The garage is actually my small (1400 sq/ft) used motorcycle/scooter sales showroom. Lordy--that is a lot of dust. If you're serious about your question, rinse it off w/ a TON of water before getting near it w/ any sort of wash mitt. Use 2 buckets--one "clean" one and one "dirty" one. Fluffy wash mitt is a must as is a ton of suds. Dunk in the clean bucket, make a pass on the car, rinse off in the dirty bucket, dunk in clean, repeat. Please post some "after" pics. BTW--how long was it sitting???
I wasn't really serious. I've "dusted" off a couple cranky old beasts in my time and employed the 2 mitt system. The car has not been operated since 1990. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/928-forum/439066-ob-barn-find.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=189306 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

I'm thinking someone must have redone the 31 year-old wheels at some point. Brand new 20 year old Pirellis oh yeah! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great looking 308! There's a few around Seattle. Coincidentally, my neighbor and I in north Seattle here happen to both have black 308s. Looks like the car needs some assembly. Hopefully most of the parts are with the car. If not, get ready to feel like you're in a prison shower with pony tails and a miniskirt on....particulary if you choose to walk down the street and visit Grand Prix in the hope of finding some parts to complete her....
At least the body cleaned up nicely. You said it looks like it's all there, if so that is a good thing. I've had a lot of my '78 308 apart over the last few years. If you run into a spot and can't quite figure it out give me a holler. I'm just a ferry ride away from you. Has it not been run in 19 years? If not I'm guessing you're going to be checking things out and at least changing a bunch of hoses, fluids, and belts before firing it up! Good luck and PM me if you want more info. John
Take the car outside and use pressured air to blow off the dust Any rubbing and that may cause micro scratches.
Good luck and welcome! As others said hopefully it's "all there"..... I'd be very careful of the air injection pumps. I see the tubing still in place. Inspect for rust holes and leaks and the pumps when they seize can ruin some real expensive stuff. Depending on local laws, taking the whole system off has merit......
Love all your stories about bringing car backs to live. Nice cars!!! I kicked myself for not getting the black countach few years ago when it was even cheaper than my 328!
LOL!!! You recognize the Crown Vic but call the Countach "the black car with the wing"! I actually laughed out loud when I read your post. BTW, the 308 looks GREAT. Never underestimate the power of a little TLC.
Actually it appears that the car in front of the car with the big wheels has a Mercury badge making it a Grand Marquis (sp?).
Kie- By the looks of the photos I must be near you. I have a black/black 77 308 US Steel #20817. I have some extra hoses and such left over from replacing mine. A few misc. parts and some knowledge. Let me know if you need anything, more than happy to help turn a bolt or share my mishaps. Tim [email protected]
Rather than the dust on the exterior, I'd be much more concerned about the condition of the engine and transmission internals after sitting for so long ---- rusty cylinder walls and all component surfaces where the oil has long since dripped away. Do you plan a tear down / rebuild before trying to fire that engine up? Are you at least going have a look around with a borescope, first?
brings back memories.... i lived a couple of blocks from there 20years ago peak of the grunge dayz. had a lot of fun. then moved down to belltown just before it became trendy. it look vastly different now, no more vogue and the frontier...where have all the good times gone in seattle?
