Any Singapore Ferrari owners?

Hmmm the M8 Leica pic is nice, I wonder if I can get away with using one 28mm lens for landscape shots and use the baby leica for everything else

Since you are so busy proving that you have a Leica, why not post some pics of your Nikon D3X with the same background Quick make me a believer LOL

 

Aiyoh, dun let us influence you, the cameras you are looking at are all good and it would take a really big printed version or an expert eye to tell things apart, boils down to what you need. If you dont take pics regularly then a decent Point and shoot like the G10 suffice lo..

dont forget the DSLR all need special care like a dry cabinet etc. Thirsty hippo in my camera bag doesnt work, so i got a bunch of rather useless moldy lens now. Plus weight wise is much heavier etc etc, if you fancy carrying extra luggage everytime you travel then buy one

Dont need to prove anything to anyone, I will just share with you my personal preference. I would dare to tell you that out of 10 shots, maybe 1 or 2 comes out decent in the Leica...

My choice of glass is still Leica if I can afford the time. If not, it will be a Nikon DSLR or P&S...

 

yeah... i saw the video already as well. when he appeared in the FXX my first impression was,"did the Stig lost weight"? anyway, did they allow the FXX to broke the record? the FXX isnt rd legal right? i remember Edo had a rd legalised one only...

 

which P&S has the highest F stop?

 

Or you can wait for this new Leica coming out, none of the deficiencies of the M8.2, its built modern so its head to head with the D3X ...if you can wait its launch is in September.

I watched the show last night and was surprised that the FXX was allowed to break the record. I can't remember which car it was, but 2 seasons back they disqualified a car after breaking the record on the grounds that it couldn't go over a speedhump due to its low front spoiler and no mechanical lift; this despite the fact that it was road registerable. I guess Shuey can pretty much do as he likes, even on Top Gear.

p.s. breaking the record by 7 seconds is impressive non the less.

u guys crack me up Anyway,

just back from Cameron highlands where it's a cool 18 degrees in the morning & the route down was fantastic, proves that u don't need to go very far to enjoy mountainous roads but my passengers were less enthusiastic

As for those folks doing screening for "heat" @ our customs. What a bunch of folks, they were holding a LCD screening equipment & haphazardly held in front of half the passengers then gave the "clear" sign while I was checking out the boot. Strangely, they were the only ones wearing masks & the last line in customs.

 

I'm keen to do a drive far up northeast, to the less travelled. I've heard of "driving nirvana" from an old guy who used to go there in their crazy 930s where the sunrise/set was amazing & roads that snake through forests, valleys & mountains. That was in the '80s, not sure how is it now.

Seductive esp. that lens.....

With my limited knowledge about photography, it's the person behind the lens & not the brand that makes the diff. I've seen many amazing pics from simple Nikon D40+kit lens (less than S$1K) You can have a 50mgp Medium format but if you don't make full use or incapable of capturing the "feel" then, it's quite an overkill. Modern DSLRs have very good noise reduction on hi-ISOs which can make larger than 2.8Fstop redundant & of course if you want that bokeh (creamy background) & shoot proper portraits, then the primes like 50, 85, 105 etc are very useful. FYI, 50mm has been my fav & the F1.8 & 1.4s are all very sharp but only @ F2+ onwards.

Leica Ms are favourite partly because of the size. It's discreet & great for shooting streetscenes, if Lung likes travelgraphy. Then, just bring the 50 & 28mm or wider IMHO. Otherwise, grab a nice zoom of 24-100+ for either brands.

The less you bring, the more you shoot.

Lastly, photoshop is quite indispensable now. These days, 9.5/10 amazing photos are all manipulated & if you're lazy like me, juz shoot jpegs

we have done this kenyir route a few times whenever we do a cameron drive.you are right, awesome hills. but the last time we were there, there were quite a few stretches that were very bad due to landslides. in fact fongster and a few of us are planning one there soon. but i am going there to do my fishing.
