That was posted on another thread, but it is awesome to see again. For some reason I wasn't getting the sound on that one.

What I notice most is how precise his driving line is. This is in contrast to some of the other Stigs, who seem at times to be a bit ragged. He hit everything on target. I wonder how much is left in the car...could he get it into the 9's?

Actually, a lot can be learned from his driving style. Data acquisition shows some pretty interesting style differences. MS usually breaks a little earlier and not as hard as other drivers. He eases off the brakes and settles the car better for turn-in and seems to carry a higher rate of speed through the corner. I would guess that he under-stresses the brakes and uses more of the aero on the car. I'd also be curious to see how much he stresses the tires.

I always thought Schumi was a late breaker. Much like fellow German Vettel is doing nowadays.

Technically he's had every fast lap... ;)

And isn't every car to go on the lap board on TG suposed to be able to "get over a sleeping policeman?" That's the reason the Caparo T1's 1:10:6 time couldn't go on the board.

    I'm not sure about that.

I have it on reasonably good authority that STIG is a man of multiple personalities.

I can't comment on Vettel's telemetry, but not true for MS. Early and lighter as compared to later and harder.

The Stig is currenty a race- and stuntdriver named Ben Collins acc. to this:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/4286448/Who-is-the-Stig-The-answer.html

The article also have a remark to the former The Stig:

"The first Stig, stunt driver Perry McCarthy, lost the job after outing himself in his book Flat Out, Flat Broke, published in 2002.
He was known as The Black Stig and always wore a black suit and helmet before he was "killed off" during the third series in 2003"

I know spoilers normally only count for race results, but I've been waiting for this show for a long time and am a little peeved that I had to stumble across this thread before being able to watch it for myself. Thanks.

If I recall correctly, Schumacher giving an interview where he talked about his DTM days and how the goal was to keep momentum. Watching this video, you can see how well he did that and how fluid it seemed. Truly amazing!

The results are in the title! If it had said "Former Champ appears on Top Gear," I wouldn't have come into the thread. But when the result is in the title there is no avoiding it. Are you suggesting I don't come on F-Chat at all?

The sound of that thing was truly epic. I expected it to top the board, but that Gumpert time was just massacred!...

as amazing as that lap was TG pulled the time off the board because the fxx was using full slicks and according to TG's rules the lap must be done on street tires so the gumpert stays on top

FXX is not on it, yet.

It seems not fair that this is not a road-legal car, but what a time! 7 seconds faster than number 2 (Gumbert Apollo).
The same amount of time that's between number 2 and number 31 on the list.

Wonder what time a normal Stig would have realized in this car.

About the braking, I once read an article why Schumi is so fast. One thing is that he optimizes the use of grip. Rather than steering after braking he let's it overlap, gradually going from braking grip to cornering grip.
