Recently acquired the infamous Mel Spillman 288 GTO conversion. To all the naysayers-let's get this out of the way-yes, it is NOT a real GTO. Merely a money is no obstacle Jim Carpenter creation of an entirely carbon fiber body and tub. Powerplant is an inline Ferrari 3.2 (328) twin turbo by Carobu Engineering that dyno'd out having 20 HP more than an F40 with LM turbos and a Razzo Rosso chip. Need to get my plumbing license!

Good on ya'! I have always liked that car, maybe because it is a black GTO (look alike). Best of luck and happiness with it.

FYI - those orange spiral tubes come from Aircraft Spruce company. I have the exact same one on my 328 intake.

Congrats Harry, some serious "no holes barred" expense went into the creation of that beast....considering its weight and power, I'm sure you have some very descriptive words to describe its performance :)

enjoy it in the best of health man !

Right you are Brother! Reportedly, at the time of buildout, the cost was far in excess of the purchase price of a "real" 288GTO at that time.
The power is something to behold. After reading the thread in the superferrari section concerning weight- I was even more curious as to the beasts weight. I just had it weighed with fuel bladders topped off (15 gal each) at a truck stop adjacent to a gas station. It came in at 2830 lbs
with onboard OMP fire supression tank in place along with car cover and one diet coke.

    More pics to follow

this latest addition 'no stories '79 930 restored and updated to a '94 turbo S....did 10.4 sec @140mph in the 1/4 mile on street tires BEFORE being tuned and the MOTEC being mapped correctly by the famous DAWES Motorsports. Customized to the 9's w/ MODE billit 935 monoball suspension & bilstein coilovers, 12 injector set up-- Bob Holcombe individual throttle bodies and exhaust, Pauder rods, twin plug niras ringed heads w/3 angle valve job, twin gt35r turbos w/twin wastegates. - the list is endless---custom everything including the rollbar I had Peter put in "just in case". It smoked the rollers @550 hp so had to use slicks to finish that part of the tune. Peter sez' it is the fastest street car they've ever had in their shop.
    in a word----INSANE

Have been looking forward to seeing pics of this one Harry, congrats :) The specs of the engine build are amazing, bordering obsessive compulsive by the builder...the performance has to be incredible.

Congrats again my friend, fantastic !
