Looks very cool, IMHO. Who knows how long that plate has been in the family?

Better than the usual cliché where a three digit plate or less is a dealer fitted option at your local MB or Bentley (read VW)dealer.

Only thing that looks odd is the trash everywhere in the gutters.:eek:

+1! Very cool and I wish I could afford to buy a 'good one'. Would be a keeper for sure and passed down the family. :):)

And I am talking about the QLD plates. Not VIC plates. :D:D

Different strokes I guess, I'd prefer to see such a plate on a luxury car - just seems to "suit" it more. Of all the heritage plates on all the cars I've seen, I still think the Mercedes-Benz SL (R230) still looks the best wearing one.

I don't know how many MBs/Bentleys or other higher end marques you see on the road but there are plenty out there with standard plates. You just see a higher proportion of those with 3 digit or lower plates in certain parts of town (as expected)

Oh, here's something I saw tonight on the way home that you might enjoy (taken on my phone hence poor quality) :D

Missed yours the first time around too. 3 digit or less plates still are rare - 900x 3 digit, 90x 2-digit and 9 single digit ones still out there, hasn't changed since day one.

You just see the owners flashing them about more often!

Did you read my post? I didn't say that the plates themselves are not rare (there can only ever be 900x 3 digit and 90x 2-digit plates and 9 single digit plates- thank you Captain Obvious); it's that they are, unfortunately, not a rare sight to see anymore and it's all about 'flash' and the crass display of wealth. Previously, there was an aspect of being 'in the know' about heritage plates. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

FWIW, I'm not too sure that all 900x 3 digit and 90x 2-digit plates are actually 'out there', especially not in the context of being displayed on cars. I wonder how many people might physically possess an old heritage plate but don't have the right to display them because said rights have lapsed? Without the right to display, these plates are nothing more than decoration for your bookshelf.

The point remains that on any given day, I'll see at least one three digit (or less) plate on an expensive car. And I'm not talking about Toorak- I'm talking about the inner city suburbs generally and the CBD. It's just not a big deal anymore. That wasn't always the case... and I'm only thinking back 5 or so years ago when it was a real treat to see any heritage plate, especially three or less digits. This means that they have become a common sight in and around inner-Melbourne. It's become a crass cliché.

Five and six digit heritage plates are still something that one does not see everyday.

Maybe I should have put a :p at the end of my post.

I guess you're just *lucky* with your spotting, I would see a 3 digit or less plate on average 1-2 times a month. I live in inner Melbourne as well. Fact still remains, referring to your previous post, that a 3 digit or less is far from a "dealer fitted option" on high end marques.

I was in the CBD tonight. Guess what I saw...

And I'm guessing you only see Ferraris 1-2 times a month, given how rare they are too.
