horrible movie. I wouldve walked out if my son wasn't with me. lot's of juvenile swearing for adolescent laughs. the storyline was all over the place... as if it was written by people taking turns around a camp fire. fight scenes were drawwwwwwwwn out. there weren't any effects we didn't already see in the first movie (which i absolutely loved). i did, however, enjoy the slow motion Megan Fox running scenes.

Meh.. it's a Michael Bay movie. No story to speak of... bunch of stuff blowing up, big machinery, noises and bangs and a hot girl.

Pretty much everyone I speak to that is under the age of 25 has said "duuuuude it's so TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!".

I really think we're devolving into avians. After all, crows are fascinated with shiny things. I guess most moviegoers are too.

I think of the average movie-goer about the same as I think of the average driver :D

+1. I came very close to asking for my money back on the first one, why would I give them more of it?

    Thank you!

I thought there were only 3 or 4 of us who thought so.

I had an employee asking if she could cut out an hour early on Friday because a bunch of them were going to see it. She was saying one already did and said it was the "most amazing movie ever", and "even better than the first one".

To my ears, it sounded like "I just got syphilis! It's even better than gonorrhea!".

    I enjoyed it.

Hell, Its a Movie about Living Robots with Feelings that transform into Machines to save the world from Robots! Whats not to like ?? ;) !!!!

Actually I like the fact they did a lot of Daylight CGI. Just wish they would slow the action down, its real hard to catch any detail, just blurry motion.

There was a lot of action and towards the end you are worn out making what would have been an Epic Fight just another action scene. The first movie was much better when it came to mixing action with suspense like the desert battle. This movie its just carnage, which is cool, just not suspenseful.

Ooh and it is a hard PG-13 I saw some parents walking out with their young kids clasping their ears. Lots of sexual innuendo & content, Violence (massive body count), countless nut sack references and language! Perfect for an older audience not so much for kids under 10.

    My .02

This was one of the things that REALLY BUGGED me in the first movie. Who is the audience here? It's KIDS. Kids buy the toys. Kids watch the cartoon show.

I'm no prude but I think the sexual stuff was too far over the top for kids of 5 to see. It's Hollywood at it's worst -- make money, sell toys, make money, make Happy Meals, make money, sell DVD's, make more money and forget about anything else.

But, that is not why I disliked the first one. I disliked it because it was the Hollywood formula to the max: Forget storyline. Forget acting. Forget making sense. Forget the audience needing a brain to watch. Just put a bunch of explosions with CGI effects, add loud ear shattering banging noises in every scene and then some girl skin here and there. It's not much different than how you make a porn -- just do everything a lot and make it over the top. If big boobs are good, just make bigger ones. In the case of Transformers, if big explosions are good, just make bigger ones.

My feeling is that 20 years from now, Transformers will be viewed in the top worst pictures of all time, right up there next to Plan 9 from Outer Space. If it weren't so bad, it would be laughable.

It's Transformers for crying out loud not Gone With the Wind or whatever.... did you expect to need to use your brains to understand the movie?

It's a movie about giant robots blowing things up...... it's not supposed to be anything else.

Guess some of you are just too intellectual to know what fun is like..... heaven forbid someone make a movie that's just cool to watch (minus the juvi language and references, could do without that).

    Flame away if you must.

You're missing the Demographic by about 10-15 years or so....I remember collecting these things when I was a kid, and I'm 37 now. Granted, the 'new generation' is interested in the franchise, but the original Fad occurred in the 1980s - and THOSE folks are the ones who are buying tickets. Hence the success of all the 'comic book' films of the past decade - the Demographic being served is the one who originally grew-up with this stuff on Saturday morning (Land of the Lost? Fantastic 4? I can only wonder when Space Ghost, Johnny Quest and the Jetsons will be released into theatres). Given the recent success of 'UP' and other animated fare at the Box Office, its apparent to me that parents will take their kids to see pretty much ANYTHING they want to, provided they get swept-up in the 'buzz' generated to bring reminiscing 30-somethings to the theatre.

Growing up with the robots in disguise... I dig it...

Happy it's not made for children; but it would've been nicer with fewer teenage innuendos.
I thought it was better than the first. More back story; better renderings (and more of them).

You cannot make suspense in a movie with a "epic fight" really.

It's not a movie for the ages, but IMHO, it was definitely a lot of fun to watch it. You have to remember; I love movies.

    Thank you.

I didn't think the first one was all that great. A few co-workers saw it last night and are just raving of how awesome it is. I don't get it.

IMO, Transformers should have been based off the original, and simply used Toy Story-esque CGI cartoon flick. Would have been a million times better.

Still don't get the idiots claiming racism about some of the robots speaking in rap slang and wearing gold teeth.

I agree with BDelp - I wish it was more like the original cartoon, because I would have wanted to take my sons to see it and get to share some of my childhood with them. I was a HUGE Transformers fan and had several dozen figures, etc. Now, I have to hope they never hear about these movies because I wouldn't let them see for another 5+ years.

I hated the toys as a kid, and I really hate all the crappy CGI stuff they throw nowadays in movies, it just takes any interest from the movie as a performance (forget about stunts, amazing decors or whatever)...So far, "so good" I prefer playing GTA IV on my PC for pure "stupid entertainment" or fun, call it how you want.

And the "Empire Strikes back" (one of the best SCiFi action movies ever made) was just a bunch of cool space ships fighting with one another and making big loud explosions I suppose...

You can have a brain and enjoy a good action movie. You can have a plot that makes sense. You can have good acting, writing, and directing in it. It doesn't HAVE to be all CGI moosh to have fun.

Sorry guys, but t's the best movie I've watched so far this year. The effects were just incredible.

  22. +1000 In my opinion they would have done even better with the target audience to make the movie R rated with lots more violence added. As for the plotline being nonexistant, did any of you complaining actually watch the original tv show as kids? And you're actually complaining about the plot of the movie? The tv show was essentially a rehash of the same plot every week. Decepticons attack a power source trying to make energon cubes, Autobots stop them, Decepticons retreat. Same thing every week. And don't forget, this is a movie about GIANT ROBOTS THAT TURN INTO CARS. You really expect an oscar-winning storyline from that? Really?

I thought the movie was ok, but just that. It had a lot of the things that bother me, like the RC Transformer that's supposed to be following the girl. Why would you put lights all over something you are trying to keep hidden? That's just one of many things I nit pick at, though. :)

The action scenes were too "Bayish" in that you can't really see what's happening. The only way I can tell some of the Transformers apart is when they're speaking. Too much motion blur and shaky camera effects. The parts with his mother are overdone, and it appeared they were trying to capitalize on her from the good parts in the first movie.

And what Military/flight academy did these guys go to? I know, let's send 4 unarmed Blackhawks into battle, and make sure you fly them within reach of the robot!

I really enjoyed the CGI and the huge robots, though. The story was ok, but (ask my wife) I predicted most of the movie, as I'm sure most people did. I liked the exchanges between Sam and the other characters. The 2 comic relief bots were just annoying, though. And yes, it did appear to be a 2 hour car commercial. The "bailout!" part was good. :)
