Whatever happened to the wheel option that was shown when Ferrari first introduced the 16M Spider? The 16M press cars are the only ones that I have seen with the 5 spoke design - all the customer cars that I have seen so far have had the Scuderia wheels. Was the response to these wheels so negative that Ferrari removed them from the options list or is it a case where everyone just ordered the Scud wheels even though the 5 spoke design was still available?

I like the 5 spoke design. Sadly, I have not seen the rim option on any list.

I ordered them for my 16m but they were not available. I don't think anyone got them who ordered them. I just got my car a few weeks ago.

The only difference between 16M and Scud wheels are that 16M wheels are a couple of shades darker.

I inquired about these wheels for my scud....I asked my dealer to order these for me, and sadly Ferrari would not allow it, - claimed they are for the 16m only, and will not let people order / add them to a normal scud.

That would be me! The wheels eventually became available at US dealers as an OEM limited edition aftermarket item. The MSRP was approximately $18,000 for the set (without tires). I purchased a set for my 16M, and have received nothing but compliments. They do a fantastic job of exposing the 16M's huge rotors. In addition, because they are lighter and stronger than stock (forged vs cast), they reduce unsprung weight....for whatever that's worth.

Aren't they the same wheels as the new 458Italia Option wheels?

Yes but in 19" not 10". I think the bolt spacing/pattern is different too, but I may be wrong.

I saw a 458 Italia at cars 'n coffee today and was thinking the same thing. Might want to check that the offset is the same.

    Is $12k in the ballpark?

458 wheels have different bolt patterns (114.3 mm vs 108 mm), are 20", and have different offsets.

Nice to know that Ferrari now uses a much more common bolt pattern. Means more aftermarket wheel choices for sure.

Nipster sometimes finds good deals on wheels as a hobby, if you did not know that. Hunt FerrariAds and you will occasionally find a set he has located.
