After seeing a smokin hot, red F430, I thought to myself that a RED Ferrari is the "ultimate" Ferrari.... But...I could never pull it off and personally own a red Ferrari. I have a silver F355 and a black F430. Low-profile colors. I'm wondering if others feel the same way? Does owning a red Ferrari take bigger balls than the more subdued colors? I think so. I think you gotta RELISH all that attention with a red Ferrari!! It sure is rewarding to see those red Ferraris though. Beautiful.
Well, the red Ferrari is a cliche', so you're living the cliche' in a red Ferrari. But most of them are red, so in many cases, you don't have much choice when buying one used. Red is the color of Ferrari, most identified with the car. Some look excellent in red, so if it is red then so be it. Not all Ferraris look best in red, though, particularly many of the earlier vintage models. And some modern models look way better in white, silver, black, yellow, darker metallic versions of "red."
at work when most fellow workers find out that I own a ferrari its always asked "its it red",some times I wish it was yellow, blue or even green, but its not,its ferrari RED
+1 I will admit there are some days I wish I had a different color. It does sorta scream LOOK AT ME to drive a red Ferrari. But it's still my favorite color... and the feeling passes quickly. Sometimes REALLY quickly Jedi
I don't think there's any such thing as a "low profile" Ferrari regardless of the color. I never even considered a color besides red for my 328. Red with a tan interior was the only combination I shopped for. If it's a cliche', it's a damn good one.
Most iconic cars have a color that they're most famous for. The red Ferrari. The silver Porsche. The white Lamborghini. The yellow Lotus. The green Land Rover. The silver Rolls. etc.. etc.. Do the look better in these colors? I guess it's just a matter of personal preference.
When I first obtained my 360 spider, back on feb 2003, I wasnt ready for all the attention I received...I had driven vettes, 911s, vipers, but nothing compared to the craziness of a red 360 spider at that time...people would jump out of cars to take pictures...there were little boys sreaming, woman at stop lights living the thumbs up, etc...the most annoying part of it all was coming back to your parked car with a crowd around it...sometimes it was cool, but often I just wanted to just get in my car and drive off...the other downside it that people are looking at you along with the car...so if hair is not washed, you have a scruffy beard, torn tie shirt, etc, people will notice.....
I'm a firm believer that your first one should definitely be screaming ferrari red. It just adds to the complete ferrari experience. My first, a 328 was red and tan. Since then I just seem to prefer black.
Like the day I forgot to change the loud Hawaiian shirt before taking Sofia out.... GAWD!!! Ran back home as fast as possible to change THAT look Jedi
I believe the actual statistic on this is 80% of first-time Ferrari buyers buy RED! Credit: Jeremy Clarkson Jedi
I selected red after a long, drawn out, agonizing decision. It may be a cliche' but when people see it, they go nuts. More importantly, when I see it, I go nuts! I appreciate other colors but for me, it's red that turns me on. I don't think it takes any more courage to buy one color or another. It's what YOU like that's important. I like Red, even if everyone else bought red. That's good enough for me.
Worked for me too Just got back from a very spirited drive with my 18-yo daughter and had a BLAST... she's really cute about it - she's learned how to time a conversation until I hit 3rd Jedi
Yeah, I have a hard time gettin' my pants up 'cause my.....LOL. I think what was said previously about some marques being associated with certain colors is true. You would have a hard time getting rid of a green Ferrari but a Jag "looks" great in that color. why?
For me, I selected red because that's the color a Ferrari should look like, IMO. I like other colors, but will only own a red one.
I bought my red 308GTS preferring another color, but also in realization that a long search was ahead to find one in a color I liked better and was as nice, that wasn't a repaint. The red's grown on me; it's an appropriate color for this model and the tan interior is perfect for TX heat. I'm happy, would like eventually to get a matching targa top for the GTB look. (I used to go on rants here about how all the available 330 2+2's were "resale red", totally wrong for that model)
IMO red does the best at revealing the character lines and small details. That being said, black, the color most able to subdue details, looks great on most all F-cars because the overall shape of the car is so sweet!
as counterpoint to the cliche', had I ANY Ferrari, red or brown, beige, pea green soup... I'd be over the moon happy
i detest red cars and try very hard to not buy red ones. some of the Ferrari's i have had were red, but only because the cars as a whole were a good deal and what i wanted mechanically. i prefer non red cars, you guys can have all the red ones....
When shopping for my first Ferrari last year I felt the same. I thought red would scream "mid life crisis" a little too loudly. I got a Grigio Silverstone 430 and could not be more pleased with the color a year later. Oh, and now I'm looking for a 360 spider....and I only want RED!
My Third Ferrari, My third ROSSO CORSA Ferrari. Never ruled out Yellow or Rubino- just as said prior... eaier to find great Ferraris in Red because of numbers game..
